The Annual Students Scientific Session was the consecutive event in relation to the jubilee celebrations on the occasion of the 160 Anniversary from the birth of Prof. Stephan Bobchev, founder and first Rector of UNWE. The Forum on the Challenges and Perspectives to Bulgaria in the Beginning of the New Programme Period 2014 – 2020 was organized by the Students Council under the patronage of the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev.

I appreciate as a very positive the fact that students show their loyalty to the academic traditions and our glorious history, said at the opening of the Session Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev. He reminded that in 1874 the 21 years old student in Istanbul Stephan Bobchev had written in his famous article: “Young man, you, who feel in your chest the fire of love to your people, if your heart beats to serve it through your mental abilities come out heroically to the literary field. Know that obstacles and hits wait for you everywhere so get ready for all the attacks the mind can achieve. Let your only thought be about the liberation, progress and goodness of humankind”. The Rector cited also the following words of Bobchev: “The young generation must be enlightened and be prepared for the public life. A doctrine producing people also produces citizens who have equal veracity and equal responsibilities”. Prof. Stattev focused on the great perspicacity, beautiful yearning and conscious striving for freedom of the young Bulgarian national revival and patriot Stephen Bobchev and emphasized that his words were still alive.

“My dear young friends, I'm glad that you are adherents of the eternal creed of Prof. Bobchev as students of UNWE which is a leader in the Bulgarian higher education and worthy follower of his realized dream”, addressed to students the Rector. He also said that the Academic Managing Body of UNWE would rely on students as smart, intelligent and fair partners and followers. “This is our strength. We succeed because we are together”, pointed out Prof. Stattev. He announced that the printed collection of reports of the Scientific Session would be provided to the media and competent authorities. “Let all be convinced that at our temple of science we do science. I'm proud of you for being here and thinking about the future of Bulgaria in the most suitable for a university way” said the Rector.
