On the day of the 140 Anniversary of the death of Vasil Levski the book “Nikolai Haytov and the Dispute over the Grave of Vasil Levski” was presented to academic community at the university by its author Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivaylo Hristov, lecturer on History of Journalism and National Psychology at the UNWE. The meeting was organized by the Media and Public Communications Department, the syndical organization of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria at UNWE and the university library. Assoc. Prof. Hristov presented to audience some less known facts from Vasil Levski`s life, the chronology in the dispute over his grave, polemics about the betrayal, “the pseudo-scientific barrier” about the truth. He pointed out that the issue of where had Levski been buried was not an end in itself but an important issue for our national dignity and self-confidence, for our honour as Bulgarians and patriots. Therefore discussions over his grave are needed today and the issue remains open and lies on our conscience. But yet the only thing Levski had wanted to himself was: “Let my grave be in Bulgaria and let everyone knows where it is”, reminded the author of the book.

The true merit of the new book by Assoc. Prof. Ivaylo Hristov were commented by Prof. Dr. Georgi Yankov, Prof. D.Sc. (Hist.) Trendafil Mitev and many others in their statements at the meeting.
