A lecture on the Strategic Approach and Entrepreneurship Projects in the Cultural Industries was read to lecturers and students by Assoc. Prof. Lidia Varbanova, international consultant, lecturer and researcher on the issues of strategic management of organizations, the management and elaboration of projects in the cultural sector. The event was organized by the Media and Public Communications Department and the Observatory on Economics of Culture.

Assoc. Prof. Varbanova, alumnus of the UNWE has consulted and supported many state, nonprofit and business organizations in more than 50 countries. In her presentation she commented some actual issues examined in her new book titled Strategic Management in the Arts published by the prestigious international academic publisher Rouitledge (Taylor & Francis Group). In the book is presented theoretical and empirical analysis of innovations in the Culture Sector and the creative, economic, social and political dimensions of innovation projects are examined in details.

What is the role of strategies in the cultural institutions? Why the innovations and entrepreneurship are an important vector in the strategic management of creative organizations? How the innovations can lead to sustainable development in the cultural industries? What are the financial mechanisms, how and why do the art manager functions change in the modern world? Those and many other issues were commented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lidia Varbanova who illustrated her lecture by curious video materials and a lot of practical examples.
