A Book about Johannes Gerber Was Presented by The National and Regional Security Department

The new book titled Johannes Gerber and the Economics of Defence in Bulgaria was presented at the Ceremonial Hall. The collection is devoted to the 90th Anniversary from the life and work of Major-General Dr. Johannes Gerber and it is an expression of gratitude for his contribution to the development of training and researches on economics and management of security and defence in our country. The event was organized by the National and Regional Security Department and gathered together lecturers, students from the speciality Economics of Defence and Security, a lot of guests.

Major-General Dr. Johannes Gerber is considered as one of the founders of the German microeconomics of the armed forces having a long military and research career, outlined Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Head of the National and Regional Security Department who presented the book as well as Dr. Gerber as a “great friend of Bulgaria”, “with a significant contribution to the development of the Department”.

The name of Johannes Gerber is related to the research of the economic issues of defence in the post-military Germany and development of the Bundeswehr as an armed force in the process of building the new democratic society. More than 10 years he unavoidably has participated into the life of the National and Regional Security Department of UNWE as a guest lecturer, author of a monograph devoted to the European economics of defence, participant in the numerous conferences, in the seminar on the Economics and Management of Security and Defence, etc. In the book are collected publications of Johannes Gerber, responses about him and an album of photos where moments from his visits in our country are kept.

It`s a very interesting book with exclusive conclusions about the restructuring of an army and the entire military restructuring in European plan, outlined in his statement  Joerg Schenk, Counsellor of the ambassador of the German Federal Republic in Bulgaria and adviser on scientific issues. About work on the collection spoke Dr. Georgy Penchev, one of the compilers of the issue.
