Students Met with The Employers from More Than 30 Leading Companies during The Days of Career

“The UNWE diploma is a guaranty for excellent preparation and successful career” outlined the Rector of the university Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev at the opening of the event titled Days of Career for the Finance, Insurance, Marketing and Advertising and Clients Service Sectors. The Forum which is traditional for the university, for the first time was organized by the JobTiger jointly with the Inter-University Center for Career Development and the Students Council, under the patronage of the Rector of UNWE. More than 30 leading organizations and companies from the business and state administration in the country participated in the “exhibition” and presented the opportunities for career and development of students. On separate counters at the UNWE lobby the leading companies by information materials presented “live” their trainee programmes and opportunities for work. Among the companies were: Fulbright Bulgarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange, Bulgarian National Bank, METRO Cash and Carry – Bulgaria, Coca-Cola Hellenic BSO, Kraft Foods Bulgaria, Bulwork, VIVACOM, United Bulgarian Bank, American Tobacco, Procter&Gamble Bulgaria, GLOBUL/GERMANOS, DSK Bank, Societe Generale Expressbank, Deloitte, ProCredit Bank, Victoria Insurance Company, etc. The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the National Employment Agency were situated on separate counters.

For a second time in 2012 the UNWE is a gentle host of the event Days of Career, outlined the Rector Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev. He pointed out that according to the assessment of state and private employers the alumni of the university were exclusively well prepared and without rivalry at the labour market. “I highly appreciate the opportunities for direct communication between the company representatives and our students. It is the real relation between the education and business which is so much commented”, outlined Prof. Stattev and confirmed the importance of that good practice which has turned into a tradition at the university. The Rector expressed his thankfulness to the organizers for the honour and confidence to be a patron of the initiative which he accepted as recognition of the responsibility and carefulness of the academic management body for the successful professional career of the UNWE alumni.

Prof. Stattev reminded the data announced in May by the Minister of Labour and Social Policy Totyu Mladenov: more than 97 % of the UNWE alumni have started working after their graduation. “As well as for the previous six years as also for the next six years period our university again is a leader in the national higher education by the highest rating from the institutional accreditation – 9,65”, pointed out the Rector. He cited also some employers` assessments given a few months ago during the accreditation. Kamelia Lozanova, Executive Director of the National Employment Agency: “Graduates from the UNWE do not remain without work more than four months. For the last five years only 600 graduates of the total 24 000 ones are registered at the National Employment Agency. 857 of the total 2200 Agency employees are the UNWE alumni. Your students are among the most wanted and qualified professionals in Bulgaria.” Biser Petkov, Governor of the National Social Security Institute: “I am proud I have graduated from the UNWE. Three thirds of the total 3700 employees at the Institute are the UNWE alumni.” Valery Apostolov, Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian National Audit Office: “40 % of the auditors at the National Audit Office have graduated from the UNWE. Their qualification is very high.” Tanya Georgieva, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance: “A lot of employees, Ministers and Vice-Ministers have graduated from the UNWE. The youngest employee who is 24 years old is also an alumnus of the same university. Over the last year 200 students have carried out their internship at the Ministry. All of that determines UNWE as a reliable partner.” Zlatozar Surlekov, Corporate Commercial Bank: “UNWE is a university without any other alternative one at the labour market”. Boyko Kostov, Chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants: “A great part of the certified auditors in Bulgaria are the UNWE alumni.” Vasil Simov, Executive Director of the Sofia Commodity Exchange: “The founders of the Sofia Commodity Exchange and Sofia Stock Exchange are the UNWE alumni. The quality of education is very high and there are preferences for employees to have graduated from this university.”

The Days of Career are one of the most important initiatives which are supported by the state, pointed out Zornitsa Rusinova, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy, alumnus of UNWE. More than 35 000 are the students who have obtained European scholarships and we are here to support anyone of the young people who want to develop so as Bulgaria to have a better future, said the Deputy Minister.

The National Employment Agency assessment about the initiative is very high. The relation between the education and business is very strong, expressed her estimation Kamelia Lozanova, Executive Director of the National Employment Agency. She encouraged the choice of speciality in the field of finance, insurance, marketing and advertising and prognosticated that in the next few years the labour market would demand such professionals. Petko Dimitrov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria focused the attention of students to their professional realization and advised them: “Do not underestimate the work the state administration provides for you.” It is easy to become a student but the real trial is when you stand face to face with your employer, said Dimitrov. About the beginning of the initiative Days of Career spoke Svetlozar Petrov, Managing Director of JobTiger who outlined that the best place for the initiative was the UNWE. Kaloyan Dimitrov, Chairman of the Students Council of UNWE defined the Forum as a real prerequisite for strengthening the relation between the education and business.

In the daily seminar programme of the Days of Career were included presentations of leading companies and organizations. The leading company counters at the university lobby were visited the whole day long. (Look at the photos below).
