10th National Competition in Applied Informatics for High School Pupils Was Held at Our University

The National Competition in Applied Informatics for High School Students was held at the University of National and World Economy and those who successfully has have successfully passed will be admitted as students of speciality Business Informatics and Communications. 70 pupils in 12 grade from specialized and secondary schools from all over the country - Sofia, Gotse Delchev, Haskovo, Shumen, Gabrovo and other cities came to the Competition ready to show their knowledge in the field of applied informatics.

Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova, Vice-Rector for Educational Activity, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexandrina Murdzheva, Head of the Information Technologies and Communications Department and Secretary General for Computer Innovations, opened the Competition /in the picture from the right to the left/.

On behalf of the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Vice-Rector for Educational Activity Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova greeted the secondary school pupils for their competitive spirit and for coming on their day off to show the knowledge and skills they have obtained at the school so far. "I wish you to become part of one of the most prestigious specialities at our university - Business Informatics and Communications. It gives an opportunity for 100% realization at the labour market and the students of the specialty after their first year are invited for internship by the largest Bulgarian and international companies in the field, and some of them even start working there. I hope to see you at the beginning of the academic year already as students of UNWE", said Prof. Alexandrova who outlined that due to the efforts of the entire team of the Information Technologies and Communications Department and its Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexandrina Murdzheva the Competition has become a tradition, It has established itself over the years as one of the reputable competitions that gathers the most prepared prospective students at the University.

In her welcoming speech Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexandrina Murdzheva emphasized on the good cooperation of the University with the high schools. "We are the Department that awaits you as our future students. I hope that the top pupils will receive their certificate and it will give them the right to participate in the ranking for the specialty Business Informatics and Communications for the academic year 2024/2025", wished Assoc. Prof. Murdzheva.

The Competition is held for the 10th consecutive time, the exam test contains 30 questions in the field of applied informatics and must be completed within 90 minutes.

In order to study the speciality in English, which is an option at the UNWE, an English exam will be required. Those willing to study in other specialities may participate in the ranking according to the procedure established in the Regulations for Admission of Students to the UNWE for the academic year 2024/2025.
