Lecturer from the UNWE Was Elected As Member of the Europe Sub-Committee of Green Arbitration

Prof. Tanya Yosifova, lecturer at the Private Law Department of our University and Chair of the Arbitration Court at the Bulgarian Industrial Association, was elected as a member of the Europe Sub-Committee of the Campaign for Greener Arbitration /CGA/.

The European Sub-Committee is one of the CGA Regional Committees coordinated by the CGA Steering Committee, which sets CGA's short- and long-term priorities and agenda. The regional committees work together with various CGA working groups.

The members of the European Sub-Committee include lawyers, representatives of institutions and arbitrators. The structure of the Committee is based on the jurisdiction and therefore usually includes representatives from the relevant countries within that jurisdiction. It means that these members are usually responsible for relevant events and activities in their respective jurisdictions.

The specific tasks of the members of the European Sub-Committee in this context include the following:

• Participating in group discussions with the rest of the European Subcommittees to discuss priorities and appropriate activities, including the organization of sustainability events;

• Focusing in particular on ensuring that the CGA is represented at national arbitration days or conferences in the relevant jurisdiction; and

• Where possible, encouraging its own organization and colleagues to adopt environmentally friendly behaviour in the conduction of arbitrations.
• Liaising with other members of the European Sub-Committee who are active in the region to coordinate the organization of activities related to sustainability;
• Focusing in particular on ensuring that the CGA is represented at national arbitration days or conferences in the relevant jurisdiction; and
• Where possible, encouraging its own organization and colleagues to adopt environmentally friendly behaviour in the conduction of arbitrations.
