The National Competition in Economics of the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria Was Held at the UNWE

For the 9th time the National Competition in Economics organized by the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria /AESB/ was held at the UNWE. A record number of high school pupils took part in the event - more than 260 competitors from the vocational schools from all over the country.

Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschiyan, Chairwoman of AESB, opened the National Competition and introduced the officials guests: the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov under whose patronage the AESB competitions are held, Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova, Acting Vice-Rector for Educational Activity, Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Acting Vice-Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies, Mrs. Emilia Ivanova, Deputy Chairwoman of AESB and Director of the National Trade and Banking High School /NTBHS/, Mrs. Maya Gesheva, Director of the National High School of Finance and Business /NHSFB/ and member of the AESB Coordinating Council, Mrs. Lilia Velinova, representative of the sponsor Coca-Cola Hellenic, Mr. Konstantin Stoyanov, member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Accountants and Accounting Companies /AAAC/, sponsor of the competition and graduate of UNWE.

"I would like to greet you and to express thankfulness for your determination as well as for coming from all over the country", said Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschiyan, Chairwoman of AESB, pointing out that this year the participants are a record number. She also outlined that the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria has expanded with one new member - the Exarch Antim I Secondary School in Kazanlak so the members has already become 42. "We have managed to build a bridge between the secondary education, the University and the business. The University of National and World Economy is the guarantee for the quality of education and the epmployers wait for you", said Prof. Feschiyan.

"Dear colleagues", addressed to high school pupils the Rector of UNWE, explaining that he hoped they would soon become colleagues as students at the UNWE and join the 18 thousand students studying at the University. He outlined that the UNWE has the highest professional accreditation obtained by the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation which is a guarantee of the best quality of education. He emphasized on the relations with the business pointing out that more than 200 memorandums of cooperation were signed with different companies that support training and provide opportunities for internships and future employment. "The Education is the highest, the most valuable investment that remains for life so you have made the best investment by coming to us", said Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov.

The Acting Vice-Rector for Educational Activity Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova welcomed the high school pupils saying: "Welcome to our alma mater." You are our inspiration, you motivate us to work for the interaction between the secondary schools, our university, and the business. I wish you success in this important Competition in Economics and we will be looking forward to welcoming you into our halls during the new academic year".

"I admire you for having the courage to be here today and to compete the with your peers so I am confident that the best of you will win today and will become students at UNWE. I would like to express thankfulness to your teachers and to the directors of your schools for being able to give you the knowledge that we as lecturers could build up", addressed to high school pupils the Vice-Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova.

"I greet you for the decision to participate in the Competiton in Economics. I wish all students from all high schools to choose this university because it is the university of the future. I would like to express special thankfulness to Prof. Feschiyan who is the driving force for the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria. She makes huge efforts for the success of the Association", said Mrs. Emilia Ivanova.

"Today, for a consecutive time the largest business university in Bulgaria gave serious proof that the link between the secondary and the higher education is a real fact due to the current Rector Manading body of UNWE and to the inspiration that Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschiyan personally sends to the educational community. The investment in today's competition is not only an investment in yourselves but an investment in the future of the nation", emphasized Mrs. Maya Gesheva.

"The road you walk is built by yourselves. We are all here today to support you on this path", said Mrs. Lilia Velinova, representative of the sponsor Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company. The other sponsor Mr. Konstantin Stoyanov, member of the Board of the Association of Accountants and Accounting Companies /AAAC/, is a graduate of speciality Finance at UNWE, he is involved in the educational process of the discipline Management and Organization of Accounting Activitiy and he is also the creator of the first accounting software in Bulgaria using artificial intelligence through which the switch from paper to electronic documents is implemented.

"This is an important competition through which you get into the largest and the most elite economic university in Bulgaria - the university where the business works and teaches", said Mr. Konstantin Stoyanov.

The most emotional part was the awarding ceremony of the winners of the National Competition in Finance and Accounting organized by the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria.

The first place won Victoria Strendeva, student from the National Trade and Banking High School. She was awarded a Certificate of recognition of grade Excellent /6.00/ for admission at the UNWE by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and a cash prize from the sponsors - 1000 BGN from Coca-Cola Hellenic and 500 BGN from the AAAC.

The second place won Katrina Assenova from the National Trade and Banking High School. She was also awarded a Certificate of recognition of grade Excellent /6.00/ for admission at the UNWE by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and a cash prize from the sponsors - 800 BGN from Coca-Cola Hellenic and 300 BGN from the AAAC.

The third place was for Natalia Gigiova and Daria Chekelezova. They were awarded Certificates of recognition of grade Excellent /6.00/ for admission at the UNWE by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and cash prizes from the sponsors - 500 BGN to each pupil from Coca-Cola Hellenic and 200 BGN to each pupil from the AAAC.

The four winners  said that it would be an honour for them to continue their education at the UNWE.

"Graduating from the UNWE you become the best among the best ones because The Road of Success Goes through the UNWE!” emphasized Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschiyan.
