The Institute of Postgraduate Studies Awarded Diplomas to the Graduates of the First Course in Corporate Regulatory Compliance

The graduates of the professional qualification in Corporate Regulatory Compliance were awarded their certificates. The qualification is organized for the first time and it is a joint initiative of the UNWE Institute of Postgraduate Studies and the Law Faculty Alumni Club. The graduates have studied 10 courses with lecturers from the UNWE and from the practice. The second course will start in November with updated course materials and lectures.

"I am very pleased to take part in the ceremony on your graduation and the awarding of your qualification certificates", welcomed the graduates Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice-Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policy. "The Institute of Postgraduate Studies has always strived to provide relevant topics, specializations and training for business and society. This qualification is one of them as the corporate regulatory compliance has become an integral part of every major company's operations in the recent years." Prof. Tsvetana Stoyanova pointed out that among the graduates there are representatives of the banking sector, IT companies and various laboratories which speaks that the corporate regulatory compliance enters more and more areas. " "Surely what you have learned will enable you to reach higher positions in the companies where you work." She added that she is grateful to the lecturers of the Law Faculty for their new proposals which are always up to date and responsive to the current trends. She also expressed thankfulness to the Law Faculty Alumni Club and to the Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies for jointly organizing this qualification. Prof. Tsvetana Stoyanova added that the practice shows that people who completed a postgraduate qualification return to another field and invited the graduates to pay attention to the other qualifications provided by the Institute. "Be healthy and find realization at higher positions in the companies where you work", wished the Vice Rector.

Prof. D.Sc./Econ./ Zhivko Draganov, Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Head of the International and EU Law Department, reminded how the idea for this qualification had arisen pointing out that it posed some risks as it had not been implemented in Bulgaria so far. "All of us involved in the organization of this qualification strived to provide high level training. From the feedback I have received, I think we have succeeded." He expressed thankfulness to the initiators of the idea, including the Vice Rector Prof. Tsvetana Stoyanova, for their support in implementing it. Prof. Zhivko Draganov pointed out that beyond the traditional understanding of the legal profession, due to the development of society, new opportunities that require legal education are opened and this qualification corresponds to the new processes in the society.

Chief Assist. Dr Stefan Radev, lecturer at the Public Legal Studies Department and one of the three initiators of the qualification, said that this endeavor had been a challenge for him in the best sense of the word. "For me, this speciality is more than just an opportunity, because the  business, for one reason or another, falls under the regulation of the national legislation, the European Union and international law, and this education will become more and more relevant."

"I believe that the time you have spent on this training is an investment. I hope that we have given you tools that you could use in the corporate world to cope with this jungle of regulations", said Ivan Dimitrov, specialist in the field and initiator of the idea of the new qualification. He advised the graduates to promote the ethical and lawful practices because that`s the way more sectors of the economy to move towards social and general welfare.

Prof. Tsvetana Stoyanova awarded the certificates to the excellent graduates - Ginka Maystorova and Slavy Gamizov.
