The Rector Took Part in a Meeting of the Executive Board of the National Scientific Programme Security and Defence

The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov took part in a meeting of the Executive Board of the Consortium for Management of the National Scientific Programme Security and Defence.

The UNWE is a beneficiary of the programme which is implemented in partnership with the Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Institute of Defence, the University of Library and Information Science, G. S. Rakovsky Military Academy, the Center for National Security and Defence Research at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Academy of the Ministry of Interior, N. J. Vaptsarov Naval University, Vasil Levski National Military University and G. Benkovsky Air Force Academy.

In the session participated representatives of all partner organizations and there was also a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov is actively involved in the development of the Programme and he is the Head of WP /Work Package/ 2.2 Standards and Innovation.

"We have done a lot of work on the National Scientific Programme Security and Defence for this one year, even though we started the activities in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. In relation to the preparation and signing of the Programme documents, numerous talks and meetings were held with the Ministry of Education in the person of Minister Krasimir Valchev and then Minister Nikolay Denkov. There was also a lot of organizational work but all this is worth the efforts because this Programme is unique, for the first time in our country there is such a programme between the universities operating in the field of defence and security", said the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov during the meeting and emphasized: "It is good that there is interest in the Programme, events were organized and held to present the strategic tasks and the individual work packages and the level was very high. We need to keep working in this direction and wish each other success. As Rector of the UNWE and as Secretary General of the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria, I believe that we should promote the National Scientific Programme Security and Defence among other colleagues working in other fields".

Within the agenda of the meeting it was discussed and adopted the Technical Report on the implementation of the National Scientific Programme Security and Defence for the first reporting period 19 May 2022 – 18 May 2023. A proposal was also adopted for the joining of Neofit Rilsky South-Western University - Blagoevgrad and the Higher School of Security and Economics - Plovdiv as associate partners of the University of Library and Information Science and Technology for participation in the implementation of its assigned tasks in the National Scientific Programme Security and Defence.
