Prof. Dimitrov, the deadline for the submission of documents is over, what is your assessment of the prospective student campaign?

This year we can boast that we have over 6100 prospective students - a record number for the recent years. It is due to the hard work by all of us. We started the campaign even before the new year. We reached out to municipalities and local businesses to identify local staff demands and to encourage students to return. Lots of meetings were held with municipalities and schools, the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria was actively involved and an Association of Language Schools in Bulgaria was established. Serious work was also done by the Departments. We held Open Doors Day, many events with students, including competitions and preliminary examinations. The Alumni community was also actively involved. As you see all these efforts give serious results.

What are the next steps for these 6100 applicants?

Now we work on the ranking of these applicants which will be announced on 10 July /Monday/ or 11 July in the morning. Each applicant will receive an automatic message from our software platform whether it has been accepted or that it can continue to a second ranking.

What is new this year is that the prospective students will be able to see the minimum scores and the number of reserves before them. For the purpose, the applicants have to log into their individual profile where the scores will be posted. They will be able to assess their own chances of being admitted to the desired course. If they like the specialty they ranked in at this stage, they can enroll online or onsite.

This year you have also announced joint programmes with other universities. Are there specifics in the enrollment for them?

Yes, since this year we implement the first joint programmes in Bulgaria between two universities under the new Higher Education Act - in this case with the University of Thrace. The interest is very great. A serious number of candidates have applied for both our joint programmes and those of the Thracian University. Several hundred people want to study the new specialities Cybersecurity and E-Government and Computer Processing and Data Analysis at first request. In practice, there will be 2 parallel rankings - for our programmes and for the joint ones with the Thracian University. Applicant have to decide in which programme they want to study.

Students will mainly study at the UNWE when there is necessary external training or specialized laboratories they will visit the Thracian University. Graduates will receive a diploma signed by both Rectors.

What are applicant`s options after the first ranking with reserves?

The ranked applicants may enroll in the speciality they have been admitted or confirm their wish to participate in the next stages of the ranking. If they wish to study in the desired specialty but their place in the reserves is not pleased to them, the paid form of study is an option. It is enough to submit the appropriate application to be enrolled. We already have more than 200 applicants enrolled in this way.

I emphasize, the applicants ranked on first request are enrolled without waiting for the next stages of ranking.

If there are applicants who have been prevented from submitting their documents but want to study at the UNWE what must they do?

They can submit documents and participate in the ranking for paid form of study.

All applicants who have difficulties in enrolling can seek assistance through our Centre for Prospective Students Requests - 02 905 29 99.

We wait for you!
