The Second Day of Career Bourses in the Frameworks of the Project Economic Education in Bulgaria 2030 Provided New Opportunities for Students

The second day of the career bourses which are held in the frameworks of the project BG05M2OP001-2.016-0004-CO1 - Economic Education in Bulgaria 2030 met students with employers from the public and private sector. The event was attended by over 20 leading companies and institutions from different areas of socio-economic life.

"The second day of the career bourses on the project Economic Education in Bulgaria 2030 is thematically focused on the job opportunities for economists in the public and private sector. It is good that there is a great interest from employers, it will give more chances to our students for professional development", said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosen Kirilov, Vice Rector for Digitalization and Cyber Security and Project Coordinator.

The Director of the Inter-University Center for Career Development /ICCD/ Atanas Dimitrov expressed thankfulness to the employers for their interest and participation in the event and advised the students: "Be more active and purposeful in what you are looking for and take advantage of the opportunities".

In the event took part over 20 leading companies and institutions from different areas of socio-economic life including TAVEX, LDC, UBB Interlease, Fintech Assistant Ltd, EasyCredit, SUTHERLAND, Euromarket Group, Menpower Bulgaria, Office 1 Superstore, Kreston BulMar, Siemens, Evergreen capital, GRAWE Bulgaria.

"Siemens is a technology company with a deep tradition and a passion for innovation. The UNWE students could find career opportunities in the Customer Order Processing Center of the Digital Industries division at Siemens where work more than 50 professionals from 5 nationalities. The working languages are German, English, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak, Hebrew and Croatian. The positions are suitable for candidates who are interested in developing in the field of logistics and customer service", said Ralitsa Ruskova from Siemens.

"As a representative of Menpower Bulgaria, a company that works in the field of recruitment and human resources assessment and development, I would say that there are many diverse positions", said Valentina Hristova from Menpower Bulgaria and added: "Companies are open to candidates who start their career and want to develop in the accounting sector, financial analysts, various assistants who would like to start with multitasking in their duties. Companies are also looking for candidates who believe in themselves, who are radiant, positive, feel the company culture as their own, people who are not afraid of challenges and with a great undying desire to learn".

"We look for students who have the desire to develop and build a professional career in accounting, auditing, finance, corporate consulting", said Yury Stoyanov, Director of Business Development at Creston BulMar, the largest accounting company in Bulgaria and emphasized: "We offer an inclusive and supportive environment, entry level training in our accounting academy and continuing education programmes to the highest professional levels but it is not just an internship, students will start with us a job for which they will receive a salary, gain experience and learn while they work".

"The people we look for to work in our company have two main profiles - salespeople, these are colleagues with good commercial sense and experience, and respectively we have service specialists, these are colleagues who are more focused on the technical part but we also have administrative positions for which we are also looking for suitable candidates", said Olya Ivanova from Euromarket Group.

"We have a lot of positions for which we are look for people to work, there are positions that do not require a specific specialty but there are also positions which are profiled in certain areas such as IT specialists and human resources specialists, we also look for people for managerial positions as they are responsible for a large number of employees and our company is quite large and it is still growing. Our company is new to Bulgaria, we have been operating in the country for 10 months so the number of positions is large and diverse", said Boyan Radev from Pragmatic Play.

"Our company Fintech Assistant is a start-up company and now we are in the development stage and the professionals we want to find at the moment are specialists for Sales Department and for the Call Center that we want to develop for serving our clients as well as marketing specialists and financiers", pointed out Smilena Marinova, representative of Fintech Assistant and student at the UNWE, 4th year, speciality International Economic Relations.


The project BG05M2OP001-2.016-0004-SO1 - Economic Education in Bulgaria 2030 is funded under the Operational Programme Science and Education for Smart Growth 2014-2020 under the procedure Modernization of Higher Education Institutions. The project is worth BGN 5 million. The UNWE should modify its training, respectively the curricula in Economics and Management, in a way that allows them to be similar to programmes in European universities and applicable in the modern business conditions. The updating and modernization will be done in partnership with other regionally leading universities such as D. А. Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov, Burgas Free University, National Sports Academy and the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria /KRIB/. Through this cooperation up-to-date curricula based on digitalization will be created and put into practice. 9 digital classrooms and 3 digital laboratories which are an indispensable addition to the modern learning process will be operational. It will enable the sharing of resources, including know-how between the partner universities and/or between the students and their university lecturers and mentors to be maximized.

The project relies on the inclusion of a large part of the lecturers involved in its implementation in the programmes for further training and/or short-term specialization in the foreign partners and the share of young scientists should be at least 15 percent. It is planned to implement 15 joint programmes with partner Bulgarian higher education institutions and to introduce 7 new programmes with digital educational content, including distance learning. 2 training programmes in a foreign language will be introduced in cooperation with foreign universities and scientific organizations.

The project will provide support for students to develop entrepreneurial skills and digital creativity. The project will be implemented for 30 months and all of the above will contribute to improve the quality of economics education at the UNWE and in Bulgaria, as well as to improve the quality of research at the UNWE and other partner universities.
