In the competition on European Law - СЕЕМС (Central and East European Moot Competition) in Malta organized by the Court of Justice of the European Union the team of UNWE presented the university with dignity and won the respect of judges. Four students on Law – the fifth year undergraduates Anita Borisova, Anna Dzhambazka and Gergana Ilieva and the fourth year undergraduate Ivaylo Dimitrov were prepared by Hristo Kirilov – member of the team of Karlos III University of Madrid in the regional final stage of European Law Moot Court Competition (ELMCC) in 2006 in Dublin, Ireland and organizer of the regional final stage of ELMCC in 2009 at the UNWE.

In the annual competition on Law participate teams from European countries. Young jurists should solve a case on actual European problem as they sent a written defence work on behalf of the claimant and defendant. By the materials allocated from the organizers including legislation, Case law and articles the participants are placed in equal conditions. The competition itself is carried out in the form of an oral pleading within the frames of simulated legal proceedings on preliminary inquiry to the Court of Justice of European Union.

In the final ranking after a very rivalry battle UNWE won the 11th place among the twelve teams. The written defence works of our students received high estimates. The die allocated them difficult battles. In the first round they competed with the team of Warsaw University and lost only two points, in the second round they won a victory over the team of the Czech Republic by 6 points. Chairwoman of the court members in the second battle was Elinor Sharlston, Chairwoman of the CEEMC and General lawyer at the Court of Justice of the European Union who personally greeted our participants for their good presentation.

Rivalry battles, new friendships, unforgettable impressions – it is the balance of our students who appeal their colleagues from the university to participate in the incredible experience at the Central and East European Moot Competition.
