On 21 July of the current year Scientific Conference on the Crises and Bulgaria was held in the Large Conference Hall. It organized by the UNWE and the National Security Association. The idea of the Scientific Forum was to provide sufficient scientific arguments to clarify the reasons given rise to the cascades of crises in the social development in our country and around the world.

In the Scientific Conference took part the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Deans, Heads of Departments, lecturers and students.

The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Vice-Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova and Colonel Chavdar Petrov, President of the National Security Association /on the left/ are opening the Conference, on the right is Marin Marinov from the Department of Marketing and Strategic Planning

At the Forum attended also representatives of the state institutions - the Presidency of the Republic of Bulgaria, experts in the National Assembly, ministries and agencies, mayors of municipalities, representatives of eight universities and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Participants in the Conference were politicians, diplomats, analysts, national security experts, media representatives, etc.

Among the guests at the Conference were the Reserve Gen. Zapryan Stoykov - Chief of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Army /2006-2009/, now Chairman of the Union of Reserve Officers and Sergeants, members of the Board of the National Security Association, politicians, analysts, national security experts, etc.

"The objective of our Conference is to discuss, analyse and evaluate in good faith and only from a scientific point of view the real reasons of the crises in the world and in Bulgaria. And if it is possible to give ideas for overcoming them. I am convinced that Bulgaria, Europe and the world urgently need a change in their management models", said Marin Marinov from the Department of Marketing and Strategic Planning who opened the Scientific Conference. According to his words there should be an immediate shift from a gambling type of management to deeply reasoned and thought-out systemic solutions.

"The UNWE is the right place to organize such a scientific conference because our university can bring together experts with different views. We have a lot of experience in crisis management in Bulgaria, but we do not use it enough. And it is about the communication - but not by phone or email. One of the main problems in communication is the lack of a clear strategy - how exactly to present to the public the difficult decisions we have taken and which can solve problems of any nature", said at the opening of the Conference the Rector of the UNWE Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov.

The President of the National Security Association Colonel Chavdar Petrov expressed his thankfulness to the UNWE for hosting the Forum. He said that Bulgaria is on the verge of a third national catastrophe. "Demography, economy, energy, healthcare, education, culture, social system, security system - there are crises everywhere. But perhaps the worst one is in our morale. We used to value friendship and nobility. And now - greed, avarice and selfishness. The Bulgarian officers have been pushed to the bottom of society. And these are Bulgarian soldiers who, together with the intellectuals and the clergy, have preserved the nation, the state and the national spirit", explicitly said Colonel Chavdar Petrov.

Reports during the Forum were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Boyan Chukov, national security expert, Assoc. Prof. Valentin Vatsev, political scientist, Marin Marinov from the Department of Marketing and Strategic Planning at UNWE, Assoc. Prof. Grigor Sarysky from the Institute of Economic Studies at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, etc.
