A Bridge between The Bulgarian and World Youth Organizations

“Because young people are the resolution and not the problem!”. This is the motto of the Bulgarian youth delegates to the UN Association in Bulgaria. The meeting with their representatives was organized at the UNWE by the Inter-University Center for Career Development. 

Nikolai Georgiev, representative of the UN Youth Section presented the history, activity and structure of the Association as he outlined that his main purpose is to be strengthen the world peace and security. The Association activity is not limited only on Bulgarian territory, it is stretched out at a world level too. “We gave an opportunity to the active people to invest in themselves”, emphasized also Mr. Georgiev. The Programme mission is to be a bridge between the Bulgarian and world youth organizations.

Bulgaria is “a pioneer” in the field of the youth participation and it is among the states-leaders in the process of encouraging the young people to make decisions. “I turned my hobby into my profession”, shared Boryana Atanasova, Head of the Programme for Bulgarian Youth Delegates in UN that clarified the requirements for the future prospective delegates as well as the responsibilities of the elected delegates. “A very few countries are ranked among the leaders who have youth delegates. We have the pleasure and privilege to be among them”, pointed out Atanasova.

The future projects of the association were also presented and among them were the photo contest “Think in Green”, the inquiries to the President Rosen Plevneliev, the Conference on The Youth Unemployment. Besides all that a member of the Club for UN at the UNWE can become everyone who is willing to be like Velislava Ivanova – the Bulgarian Youth Delegate in UN from UNWE for 2010-2011.
