The Student Council and the National Representation of Student Councils Carried Out Online Webinar on Young People and Road Safety

"It is a special pleasure for me to open the consecutive webinar organized by the Student Council. Congratulations for you are the only Student Council in the country that despite the extraordinary situation manages to hold events taking advantage of modern technical and communication capabilities. I welcome your idea to bring this matter up at the webinar and I will be glad to hear the statements of your guests.” These were the words the Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova opened the second of its kind online training.

The Chairman of the National Representation of Student Councils (NRSC) Daniel Parushev appealed to the participants to take active part in the discussion. He outlined that the idea for joint work of Student Council and NRSC as an organization representing more than 200 000 students aims to be reached more young people. "I hope that this discussion will make young people more responsible and careful on the road", pointed out the Chairman of NRSC.

The Chairman of the Student Council Angel Stoykov expressed his thankfulness to the NPSS for the good communication and support. "I am pleased to introduce Mr. Nastanimir Ananiev, Road Safety Expert, and Mr. Vladimir Todorov, Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Association of Accident Victims who will speak on such actual topic as the young people and road safety. As everyday participants in road traffic we must be extremely careful and responsible not only to ourselves but also to other road users", said Angel Stoykov.

Mr. Ananiev presented to students some statistic data on the serious traffic accidents and people injured and killed in them in the period 2011 - 2019.

Mr. Todorov paid attention to the driving of young people under the influence of alcohol and drugs as well as to their personal responsibility. He appealed to everyone to be more responsible.

At the end of the webinar the students asked questions and discussed the following topics: Mobile Phones - Major Factor in the Occurrence of Traffic Accidents / Condition of Road Markings and Road Safety Measures / Are Road Cameras Effective and Will They Help Reduce Traffic / How to Improve Control for Drug Prevention, etc.
