8th Student Scientific Conference on the Economic Policy: Realities, Challenges, Perspectives

Economic Policy: Realities, Challenges, Perspectives was the topic of the 8^th Scientific Student Conference organized by the Economics Department jointly with the Student Council.

The Forum dedicated to the 100^th Anniversary of the establishment of UNWE was opened by Prof. D.Sc. /Econ./ Statty Stattev, Head of the Economics Department. He greeted the students for their courage to analyze the economic policy having in mind the modern and especially the current challenges to it. Prof. Stattev outlined that the recipes for overcoming the Great Depression of the 1930s could not be useful to manage with the current crisis. The Head of Department also pointed out that the role of researchers is to justify theoretical economic policies that are multivariate but the responsibility for their perception and implementation should bear the politicians.

The event was honoured by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stella Raleva, Deputy Head of the Economics Department, Chief Assist. Dr. Nikolay Velichkov, Scientific Secretary of the Department, Daniel Parushev, Chairman of the National Representation of Student Councils and Angel Stoykov, Chairman of the Student Council.

The Rector Prof. Dimitrov expressed his thankfulness to the organizers and participants in the Conference for their courage, persistence and enthusiasm. He outlined that the participation of students could give a huge impetus to their overall development, including the career one. "It shows that the person looks outside the frame, the person is active and has something to give. So the position of the UNWE Managing Body has always been to encourage such student events that give a smooth start in life, practice and business of young people, said the Rector and wished success to the Conference.

The Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova noted that despite the emergency situation the Economics Department had held its annual Student Conference on the Economic Policy: Realities, Challenges, Prospects. "It is due to our students who show complex knowledge, very good thinking and a real desire to develop their reports and present them to the Forum," pointed out Prof. Stoyanova. She expressed her conviction that the topics of the Conference would provide recommendations for the development of the economy after the pandemic and wished the participants a fruitful discussion.

The Chairman of the Student Council Angel Stoykov greeted the participants and declared that despite the pandemic the students had managed to adapt, prepare their reports and present them online. He outlined that for a consecutive year the Student Council appeared to be co-organizer of the Student Conference of Economics Department. He expressed thankfulness to the Department for the joint work and cooperation over the years and wished success to the Forum.

Daniel Parushev also wished success to the Conference and encouraged the students to continue learning throughout their lives.
