Students and Eminent Experts Discussed the Commercial Profession Competencies

Commercial Profession Competencies – New Market Requirements was the topic for the first of three cycles of practical seminars organized by the Economics of Trade Department.

The students met with Lilia Misheva, Procurist and Human Resources Manager of DB Schenker – Bulgaria, Zlatina Mihailova, Staff Development Manager at Sopharma Trading, Vladimir Ralchev, Commercial Director of insurance company and Petko Penelsky, Business Development Manager for СЕЕМЕА at Bulpros.

During the meeting were discussed the competencies necessary to the modern trade as well as what could be studied at the university and the role of practice, could the business be part of education, whether the speciality Trade develops specific skills or provides only knowledge, what is the attitude of students about it, etc.

The students were interested in the skills necessary for being managers in the commercial practice, expectations of employers about the CV of candidate completed Bachelor`s degree, whether they hire a specialist graduated from the UNWE, speciality Economics of Trade and is it an advantage, how to find balance between the hard work and private life, etc.

The experts advised students to study because of the importance of theory but also to search for practice, learn more languages, to be honest – regarding the information in the CV, their work, relations with colleagues, to be clear what they like and to continue their education and work in the fields they are keen on.

During the second cycle of practical seminars (on 26 April at 4 p.m. in the Large Conference Hall) it will be discussed the topic Leadership and Management – Lessons from the Practice. Students will meet with Andrey Evtimov, CEO Doverie Brico AD (Mr.Bricolage), Managers from the Raiffeisen Bank, Kaufland and other leading companies.
