Framework Agreement of Cooperation between the UNWE and KPKONPI

The Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev and Mr. Plamen Georgiev, Chairman of the Commission for Counteracting Corruption and the withdrawal of illegally acquired property (KPKONPI) signed a Framework Agreement of Cooperation between both institutions (in the pictures below).

The document provisions cooperation between the UNWE and KPKONPI in the following fields: preparation of joint projects and their implementation; exchange of information and publications about activities and events; participation of KPKONPI representatives in presentations to students, lectures, seminars, conferences, meetings and other events organized by the UNWE; assistance for participation of lecturers and other UNWE representatives in meetings, expertise, consultations, statistical and other research and events organized by the KPKONPI.

It is the first Agreement the Commission have signed after its establishment a month ago. I am convinced we will do our best to counteract corruption uniting all our expert potential. We have lots of ideas and in their implementation will take part the Financial Control Department, National and Regional Security Department, Economic Sociology Department, Law Faculty, etc. We work on the preparation of new Master`s Degree Programme in Counteracting Corruption and consider the opening of university center in the field, said the Rector Prof. Stattev.

Mr. Plamen Georgiev presented the activities and tasks of KPKONPI and expressed his confidence that both institutions would actively cooperate especially in the training of professionals (in the picture below).

In the Framework Agreement it is also written that both institutions will cooperate through informing the students from the UNWE about internships and public events for the presentation of the work of KPKONPI as well as through organizing training courses in Master`s and Doctoral degree programmes of UNWE for specialists and officials from the KPKONPI and mutual assistance in the conduction of other specific events of mutual interest.

For Coordinator on the implementation of the Agreement from the UNWE is appointed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgy Petrunov, lecturer at the Economic Sociology Department and Chairman of the Bulgarian Sociological Association (BSA) and from the KPKONPI – Trifon Trifonov, Director of the International Activity, Coordination and Control Directorate.

At the signing of the Agreement attended the members of the Rectors Council, Prof. Dr. Ognyan Simeonov, Head of the Financial Control Department, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Dean of the Economics of Infrastructure Faculty and Head of the National and Regional Security Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrey Nonchev, Head of the Economic Sociology Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgy Petrunov and Trifon Trifonov (in the picture below).

KPKONPI is an independent specialized permanent government body for implementing the policy on counteracting corruption and forfeiture of illegally acquired property. It was established under the Law for Counteracting Corruption and the withdrawal of illegally acquired property (ZPKONPI) (prom. SG. Issue 7 from 19.01. 2018). The Commission reports on its activities to the National Assembly of Bulgaria.
