Prof. Pirotta began his lecture saying that the most important thing in life is to explore and never stop exploring. He featured the major directions in Malt`s foreign policy since Independence which had turned the country from a former military base, a country having a weak economy and poor people into a member-state of the European Union and preferred tourist destination having a stable economy.

The lecturer examined in historical chronology the difficult course of economic and political development of Malta, the period of mass migration and unemployment, policy of establishment of firm independence as he outlined the strive of the country for peace-keeping in the Mediterranean region and expanding the foreign trade relations with countries not only in North Africa but also with European states as Bulgaria, Czechia, etc.

Malta has achieved its foreign policy objectives to retain the sovereignty and to differentiate Malta as a small country having a huge contribution to the peace-keeping in the Mediterranean region. The peace is everything, pointed out Prof. Pirotta.
