Lecturers from the universities in the country took part in the Annual Scientific Conference on the European Differences and a World Chaos organized by the International Relations Department in memory of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boyko Mladenov. At the opening of the Forum in the Large Conference Hall attended Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of UNWE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Igor Damynov, Dean of the International Economics and Politics Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrey Georgiev, Head of the International Relations Department, Prof. Dinko Dinkov, Prof. Dr. Georgy Genov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Plamen Ralchev, Deputy Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evgenia Vasileva, moderator for the Forum, etc.

The Rector determined as an emblematic the fact that the Forum had been held in memory of Assoc. Prof. Boyko Maldenov who would always stay part of the academic community of the university.

In the Large Conference Hall

The dynamics and unpredictability of international situations and the times of world chaos were commented by Prof. Stattev basing on the recent events. He pointed out the relation in the issues of the Forum to the International Scientific Practical Conference on the Digital Frauds and Cyber Security which was held at the university a week ago. We should face the problems and give our scientific contribution to their rationalization and to ring the bell so it can be heard by the government, by all institutions of the executive and legislative authority, outlined the Rector. He expressed his confidence in the importance of the Forum for finding out ideas and solutions of the issues.

It is the consecutive spring Conference of the International Relations Department, pointed out Assoc. Prof. Andrey Georgiev. The Head of the Department outlined that it had been devoted to the memory of Assoc. Prof. Boyko Maldenov – “the colleague and the friend having 37 years of significant contribution to the development and approval of the specilaities International Relations and European Studies”.

The Department organized the consecutive event which will undoubtedly leave a trace, said Assoc. Prof. Igor Damynov. The Dean emphasized on the participation of undergraduates and Doctoral students in the Forum and expressed his confidence that it would suggest interesting theses and solutions for putting an order in the chaos. The most important thing is our scientific skills and approaches to be heard and to be used, declared Assoc. Prof. Damyanov. 

During the Forum

Assoc. Prof. Mladenov whose absence opened a large emptiness at the Department had studied most of all the modern public and political issues of Poland, pointed out Prof. Dinkov. In that relation he commented the political processes in that country, its striving and ambitions of being a leader in the European Union. He examined the risks which other countries had been faced by Poland, its active assistance for the crisis in Ukraine, anti-Russian policy of the country impacting to a great extent on the NATO and the EU, etc.

The differences in opinions become more and more and the efforts for their overcoming arise new differences, emphasized Prof. Genov. According to his words the chaos in the world had been apparent and in fact it had been a myth or propaganda. The point is that the competition dominates over the cooperation and it means disruption of stability which leads to changes in the ratio of powers. We are resistant to losses and the problem is that there is awfully lot loss of benefits and the conditions and opportunities for our existence and development become restricted, declared Prof. Genov who pointed out that the state structure of Bulgaria and our national identity had been threatened.

The work of the Conference was organized in three panels – Integration and Fragmentation in Europe and in the World / Security and Conflicts / Technologies, Economy and Social Processes. Nearly 40 reports were presented during the Forum by the participants from the UNWE, St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia, New Bulgarian University, Neofit Rilsky South West University, etc.
