First Initiative after The Agreement of Cooperation between The UNWE and Cleantech Bulgaria Foundation

An Agreement of Cooperation between the UNWE and the Regional Center for Climate Innovations at Climate-KIC in Bulgaria was concluded. For the territory of the country the Center is coordinated by the Cleantech Bulgaria Foundation.

As a result of the Agreement the undergraduates, Doctoral students and lecturers of the university have opportunities for: additional knowledge and development of entrepreneurial skills in the field of low-carbon economy (LCE) and clean technologies; access to education in disciplines related to the climate changes; work with European partners for developing research scientific, innovative and educational projects; support for developing talents through international exchange, accelerating programmes and trainings for the students of UNWE; strengthening the international exchange of good teaching and managerial practices, knowledge and specialists.

In the first joint initiative two teams from the university took part in the final part of the competition Start-UP Universiade. The competition was for students who have entrepreneurial ideas from prestigious universities in Bulgaria and it was organized jointly with the Cleantech Bulgaria Foundation.

Gergana Marinova, Doctoral student from the Marketing and Strategic Planning Department at UNWE presented her idea of decreasing the impact on climate through her project entitled Asterisk (in the picture below).

The project objective is to enhance the awareness of people about the ecological way of life and the use of available information about it. The product is a platform which unites the information about the ecological way of life.

David Stoyanov, third year student of speciality Environmental Economics with English language teaching presented his project entitled City Needs Space (in the picture below).

It is a mobile application designed to facilitate every driver who has difficulties in finding a parking space for its car. It saves money, time and troubles to consumers and helps also to improve the air of urban environment. The team members think that the pollution can be reduced and the application is a step towards creating a better living environment.

The participants went through two stages of training. The lecturer during the half-day training at the UNWE was Chief Assist. Dr. Nina Tipova.

The Agreement is administered by the Economics of Natural Resources Department and for contact persons are appointed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Ivanova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elka Vasileva and Chief Assist. Dr. Nina Tipova.
