Students of International Relations Speciality Commented The Inauguration of President Trump at Live TV Broadcasting

On the occasion of inauguration of the new American President Donald Trump the TV channel BIT implemented live broadcasting from the International Relations Department at the UNWE. The presenter Zlatimir Yochev had a conversation with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Plamen Ralchev, Deputy Head of the International Relations Department as well as with students of International Relations speciality: Georgy Valev, Ilian Krumov, Borislav Velikov and Dimitar Cherkezov (in the picture below).

Students, all of them members of the International Relations Research Student Association (IRRSA), shared their opinion and impressions of their stay in the USA during the presidential campaign.

Georgy Velev commented the moods of young electorate from the Republican Party and pointed out that Trump would certainly not be impersonal president but there had been many questions about his position towards Russia and China as well as who would be the preferred partner for the USA. Borislav Velikov shared his impressions of Iowa and pointed out that most of the people there had had a favourable vision about their future as well as positive attitudes to Trump. 

In his comment Assoc. Prof. Dr. Palmen Ralchev outlined that the President Trump would have to adapt to his new role and probably there would be metamorphoses in politics. “It is hardly possible for Trump to change so many things as fast as he has promised”, shared his opinion Assoc. Prof. Ralchev. According to him the challenge to Trump would be the so called “establishment” in Washington and so probably the Vice President Mike Pens, having a large political experience, would be the balancing figure in the critical situations.

The Chairman of IRRSA Ilian Krumov emphasized the importance of the Presidential Administration and the fact that there had already been cross purposes talking on certain pre-election messages and statements by people nominated for positions in the Administration. About the challenges to the strategic unions the student Dimitar Cherkezov pointed out that there had been differences in the positions of Trump and the Administration.
