On 2 December the University Center for Students and Lecturers Mobility organized a one day trip to Gabrovo and Tryavna for students of the UNWE Erasmus+ Programme. The trip objective was to make the foreign students familiar with the Bulgarian culture and traditions.

The towns included in the trip weren`t chosen accidentally: Gabrovo – the town developing as the strongest textile center of Bulgaria after 1878 and also called the “Bulgarian Manchester” and Tryavna – the town representative of the Bulgarian National Revival architecture and Bulgarian cultural heritage.

Among the national revival houses of Tryavna

In the trip took part 36 students of the Erasmus+ Programme. The trip included a tour around the historical places of Tryavna – the church of St. Archangel Mihail, the Stone Bridge which had been built in 1844-1845, the central square Captain Grandpa Nikola and the Clock Tower. The museum entitled The Old School which had been one of the first secular schools in Bulgaria was of special interest for the students who learnt by the tourist guide about the strict requirements to the pupils at the Bulgarian National Revival school. The foreigners were also impressed by the Daskalova House because of its incredible wood-carved ceilings, sculpture figures of Bulgarian kings, bas-reliefs of Bulgarian revolutionaries and writers of the Bulgarian National revival.

In Gabrovo the young people visited the Interactive Industrial Museum. On its three floors they saw the different periods in the town development – industrialization, socialism and present. They visited also the House of Humour and Satire.
