The Chess Teams of UNWE Won Prize Places in The National Student Championship

The annual issue of the National Student Championship in Chess was held from 9^th till 13^th November on the Swiss system.

The teams were very strong with equal capabilities which made the competition exclusively intensive and each individual game of chess was of great importance for the  final ranking.

During the competition

The first three places were won with equal scores relatively 10,1/2;  10;  10. The first place was occupied by the team of St. Climent Ohridski University of Sofia. After two consecutive champion cups our representatives took the second place among the male teams and the third place among the female teams.

With the Cups

In the individual ranking the second place and silver medal was won by Velizar Gineslavov, 5,1/2 points, the third place and bronze medal was won by  Ivan Georgiev, 4,1/2 points and right after them were ranked: Petar Todorov, 4,1/2, fourth place and Ivaylo Stoyanov, 4,1/2 points, fifth place. Ivana Gencheva was ranked at the third place among women and won a bronze medal.

To our great regret ½ points more were needed to us to become champions again in the female ranking.
