Participation of the Director of the Nuclear Security Support Center Prof. Dr. Svetoslav Spasov in the Annual Meeting of the International Nuclear Security Education Network in Mito, Japan
At the beginning of November the Annual Meeting of the International Nuclear Security Education Network /INSEN/ was held. Prof. Dr. Svetoslav Spasov, lecturer in the National and Regional Security Department, took part in the meeting which was organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency /IAEA/ in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.
The event brought together representatives from leading universities, nuclear regulators and international organizations from over 30 countries who discussed the current challenges, the necessity of education and the development of academic programmes in the field of nuclear security.
Prof. Spasov participated as a panelist in Panel Session #1: Engaging Stakeholders in Nuclear Security, where he presented the best practices of UNWE and the experience in developing the Master's Degree Programme in Nuclear Security implemented with the support of the IAEA. In his presentation he emphasized the role of education, academic partnerships and the preparation of young specialists in the context of global efforts to strengthen the nuclear security.

During the Forum Prof. Spasov held working meetings with representatives of the IAEA and partner universities regarding the future joint initiatives, the exchange of educational resources and the participation of UNWE in INSEN projects.
The participation in the meeting in Mito contributes to establishing the UNWE as an active member of the international community in the field of nuclear security and opens up new opportunities for academic collaboration.
