Bulgarian or foreign citizens applying for Master`s degree studies after graduating the Bachelor`s degree studies, who have completed their higher education in foreign higher education institutions, in order to fulfill the procedure for recognition of the acquired degree of higher education, must submit the following documents:

1. Application /model/;

2. Diploma of higher education, its Supplement and the European Diploma Supplement /if they have one/ - original and notarized copy;

3.; ID document, which must be returned to the applicant after verification, and a document certifying the change in the applicant's name, if there has been such a change;

4. Document for payment of the administrative service fee for recognition of higher education degree acquired in foreign higher education institutions.

Requirements for the documents:

1. The diploma of higher education and its Supplement issued by higher education institutions outside the member states of the European Union and the countries of the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications Concerning Higher Education in the European Region /State Gazette No. 51 of 2000/ must meet the requirements of the relevant regulations of bilateral international treaties to which the Republic of Bulgaria is a party or of the Convention on the Abolition of the Requirement of Legalization of Foreign Public Acts /State Gazette No. 45 of 2001/. In the absence of such regulations, the recognition must be in compliance with the general procedure for legalizations, translations and authentications of documents and other papers.

2. The diploma of higher education and its Supplement, except the European Diploma Supplement issued by higher education institutions in the member states of the European Union and in the countries to the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications Concerning Higher Education in the European Region, must be accompanied by a translation into Bulgarian by a person implementing translations in compliance with Chapter Three of the Regulations on Legalizations, Certifications and Translations of Documents and Other Papers adopted by the Council of Ministers Decree No. 184 of 1958.

Documents must be submitted to the University of National and World Economy by the end of November 2024 /for the summer semester enrolment/. They may be submitted by the applicant in person or by an authorized representative with notarized power of attorney in original. The documents must be submitted:

1. At the UNWE, Verification and Recognition Sector, Office 1004 / - for Bulgarian citizens and citizens of countries of the European Union and the European Economic Area.

2. At the UNWE, Foreign Students Division /  – for citizens of countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area.

Within one month after submitting the documents, the UNWE prepares and sends them to the National Centre for Information and Documentation in order to establish the status of the higher education institution that issued the diploma and the authenticity of the higher education diploma.

After receiving a response from the National Centre for Information and Documentation, the submitted documents that meet the requirements are considered by the UNWE Commission for Recognition of Higher Education and Completed Periods of Study in Foreign Higher Education Institutions.

The Rector of UNWE is required to make a decision on the recognition of higher education acquired abroad for the purpose of continuing the studies at the UNWE on the basis of a report from the UNWE Commission for the Recognition of Higher Education and Completed Periods of Study at Foreign Higher Education Institutions.

If the applicant's higher education has already been recognized by the National Centre for Information and Documentation /NACID/ under Art. 6 of the Regulation on State Requirements for Recognition of Higher Education and Completed Periods of Study at Foreign Higher Education Institutions, the certificate issued by NACID /original and copy/ must be submitted with the application documents.
