Prof. Dr. Daniela Milchova Feschiyan

Prof. Daniela Feschiyan holds a PhD in Economics /2000/. She has been a lecturer at the University of National and World Economy /UNWE/ since 1992. She graduated the speciality Accounting and Control at the UNWE in 1992 and on the day of her graduation she was invited to become an intern assistant in the same department. She specialized at De Montfort University, UK – Management Accounting and International Accounting Standards in an MBA programme /1994/ and /1995/; at the University of Leicester, UK – Accounting and Financial Accounting Management in Banks /1998/, at the London School of Economics and Political Science – Accounting and Public Finance /1999/. She has been a guest lecturer at the Economics Department of the University of Leicester, UK /2000, 2001/ and in France, at the Economics Faculty of the University of Picardy Jules Verne /2022/. Prof. Fesciyan's research interests are in the field of accounting, analysis and financial accounting management in banks, European harmonization and standardization of accounting in the public sector. She has published over 150 publications. She is the author and co-author of ten monographs, five studies, fourteen textbooks, more than 100 articles and has been cited over 200 times in scientific publications referenced and indexed in global databases, including Scopus and Web of Science. She has participated dozens of times as a keynote speaker and lecturer with plenary reports at national and international conferences and world congresses.

From 2005 to 2016, she was Scientific Secretary of the Accounting and Analysis Department, from 2016 to 2024 she was Deputy Head of the Department, and since 2024 she has been its Head. From 2007 to 2011, she was Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the UNWE Finance and Accounting Faculty. From 2011 to 2015, she was a member of the Control Council of UNWE. From 2015 to 2019, she was Deputy Chairwoman of the Control Council of UNWE. In 2019, she was elected as Chairwoman of the Control Council of UNWE. She is a certified lecturer on International Accounting Standards at the US Agency for International Development /since 2001/. Prof. Daniela Fesciyan is a member of the Advisory Group on Financial Accounting in the Public Sector at the Teaching and Methodological Council of Bulgarian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and she is the Scientific Editor of the first legalized translation in Bulgaria of the Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting in the Public Sector of the International Federation of Accountants. She is a member of Working Group 27 on Accounting Policy and Independent Financial Audit of the Council on European Affairs, Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria.

She is the Head of international, national, university and business projects, advisory and expert groups on issues related to the accounting and analysis in the banks and in the public sector. She is also a member of international editorial boards. Prof. Daniela Feschiyan is the Bulgarian Head of an international research working group in the field of financial reporting in the public sector, in partnership with representatives of the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. She also leads an international research group for the development of research competencies and skills for conducting independent research in partnership with representatives of the University of Economics in Krakow, Poland. She is the Scientific Advisor of ten Doctoral students, five of whom have successfully defended their Doctoral theses. She is a lecturer at the International Banking Institute.

Prof. Daniela Fesciyan is a co-founder of the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria /AESB/. SInce its inception in 2015 to 2020, she has been Deputy Chairwoman of AESB. In 2020, she was elected as Chairwoman of the AESB.
