Researching the Status of Electronic Services in the Bulgarian Local Administration

Abstract

Bulgaria is at a stage of development at which significant investments are required in order to create and use e-government. Part of the idea of   building e-governance is the coverage of services that municipalities provide. Therefore it is essential that from a theoretical and practical point of view the factors for the creation of a functional electronic local government are properly determined. It is necessary that we address the question of whether the municipalities are ready to provide electronic services or have the capabilities to perform such a task. For the purpose of this study we have used a survey of information systems and technologies conducted in the municipalities and on this basis have made an analysis of the opportunities for the introduction of electronic services.
