UNWE Students Visited the National Assembly and Watched Voting in the Plenary Hall
Students visited the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and got acquainted with the work of the legislature, the process of drafting and adopting laws, as well as the role of parliamentary committees.
The visit was at the invitation of Mr. Ivan Klisursky – Member of Parliament and member of the Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation, the Committee on Control over the Security Services and the Use of Special Surveillance Devices, the Subcommittee on Support for the Process of Bulgaria's Accession to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development /OECD/ and the Standing Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Restriction of Monopolies.

The culmination of the visit for the students was their presence in the Plenary Hall during a real vote on a law draft – valuable practical experience that allowed the students to closely observe the democratic process in action.

The students were greeted by the President of the LI National Assembly Mrs. Raya Nazaryan – a graduate of the UNWE Law Faculty.
During the organized meeting, actual topics were discussed, including the introduction of the euro, Bulgaria's progress in joining the OECD and consumer protection policies. The meeting turned into an open dialogue on current economic issues and emphasized the importance of the link between the academic education and practices in the public sector. Students – future economists and lawyers, were encouraged to develop their professional potential and to maintain an active interest in the work of state institutions.
The visit was organized by the UNWE Economics Department in cooperation with the Public Relations Directorate of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.
