The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov Met with the Ambassador of France H. E. Marie Dumoulin

The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov met with the new French Ambassador to Bulgaria H. E. Marie Dumoulin. Both institutions will work towards establishing dual Master's degree programmes between the UNWE and the French universities.

During the meeting Prof. Dimitrov highlighted the leading position of the UNWE in the Bulgarian and European educational space.

"We have very good relations with French universities, and the European alliance ENGAGE.EU helps a lot in this regard", said the Rector noting that the ENGAGE community works actively and more and more foreign students want to study and develop in Bulgaria. The Rector presented to H. E. Marie Dumoulin the history and achievements of the University, the digitization of the educational process, and the work on various international projects.

The UNWE works in partnership with French universities on more than 10 projects under the Erasmus Programme. According to Ambassador Dumoulin, it is the first step towards further activities and future cooperation: "I am glad that a week ago, when I was at the opening of the Doctoral Conference at your university, dedicated to ethical standards and working with artificial intelligence, I saw so many young people from different countries united".

She expressed thankfulness to the Rector and the UNWE for being a bridge between different cultures and talked about her meetings with French students studying in Bulgaria who are extremely contented and many of them consider staying in the country after their studies.

"France and Bulgaria collaborate in science, but we must also emphasize on the academic cooperation that generates science", pointed out Ambassador Dumoulin.

The Ambassador and the Rector committed to working towards intensifying the cooperation between the UNWE and the French universities.

Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov outlined that the internationalization is important for the University and that he would be delighted to work together with French colleagues: "The Academic Managing Body works to establish partnerships with foreign universities. These initiatives have a positive impact, enhancing the image, quality, international competitiveness and attractiveness of the European higher education".

"We are happy that Bulgaria has joined the Eurozone and is now part of the big family. Your country will become more attractive to foreign investment, including French investment", said the French Ambassador.

The meeting ended with wishes for deepening the academic exchange between Bulgaria and France and expanding the cooperation in various fields.
