The University of National and World Economy (UNWE) is pleased to host

the 6th International Conference on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Applications (ICBDAIA'27),

which will take place on 21–22 April 2027 in a hybrid format (on-site and online).

The Conference is organized by UNWE in partnership with Ibn Tofail University (Kingdom of Morocco) within the framework of the international STUDIES-DIG project (Models and Instruments for Transforming Higher Education Systems through Transnational Multi-Sector Links), Grant Agreement No. 101131544, funded under the Horizon Europe – Marie Sklodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges programme. The project aims to promote international collaboration and knowledge exchange to support digital transformation in higher education and the public sector.

Participation in the conference provides an opportunity to present research findings, discuss current scientific challenges, and establish new academic and professional partnerships. Accepted papers evaluated by the ICBDAIA’27 Scientific Committee and presented during oral sessions will be published in Springer Proceedings – Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems (LNNS), automatically indexed in Scopus.

ФFaculty of Management at the University of Bialystok /Poland/ invites the academic community of the UNWE to participate in the International Scientific Conference on Management in Economy 4.0, which will be held on 15-16 October 2026. The Conference provides an opportunity to present research in the fields of management and economics and the approved papers are eligible for indexing in Scopus in compliance with the organizers terms and conditions.

This invitation is the result of the profound academic collaboration between the UNWE and the University of Bialystok, which was further expanded during the visit of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Vodenicharova, UNWE Vice-Rector for Research, as part of the Erasmus+ Programme in June 2026. As a result of the meetings held and the agreements made, the organizers have stated their willingness to cover the travel expenses of the participants from the UNWE.

Lecturers, researchers and Doctoral students from the UNWE are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to participate in this prestigious international scientific forum and to expand the academic cooperation with the University of Bialystok.

UNWE Will Host ECREA Journalism Studies Section Conference 2027: Sustainable Development Through Quality Journalism and Media Literacy

The UNWE and the Media and Public Communications Department — a UNESCO Chair in Media and Information Literacy and Cultural Policies for Sustainable Development — have been selected to host the Annual Conference of the Journalism Studies Section of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) — ECREA Journalism Studies Section Conference 2027.

On 22 and 23 April 2027, Sofia and the UNWE will welcome leading researchers, faculty members, Doctoral students, journalists, experts, representatives of civil society, and professional communities from Europe and beyond.

The theme of the main Conference is Sustainable Development Through Quality Journalism and Media Literacy. It will focus on quality journalism, media and information literacy, critical thinking, and the role of the media in the sustainable development of democratic societies.

In an environment marked by the spread of disinformation, misleading content, algorithmically curated news feeds, generative artificial intelligence, deepfake technologies, and a crisis of trust, the issue of the quality of public information is becoming increasingly significant. The conference will focus on how citizens can develop skills to access, evaluate, create, and responsibly use information in media, digital, and platform ecosystems.

On 21 April 2027 the UNWE will also host the 7th ECREA Journalism Studies / Future of Journalism PhD Colloquium, aimed at Doctoral students in the field of journalism studies. The colloquium will create an international academic environment for the presentation of research projects, in-depth feedback, and professional exchange among young scholars.

As part of the programme, the UNWE will also host the Conference Reclaiming Digital Infrastructures for Journalism: Ownership, Dependency, and Public Interest Alternatives, which will take place on 21 April 2027. The Conference focuses on one of the most critical issues facing contemporary journalism: how the media can regain control over the digital infrastructures on which they increasingly depend.

The event is organized by researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Public Tech Media Lab),

the University of Amsterdam, the University of Virginia, the Università della Svizzera italiana, and the University of Twente.

a seminar on the International Organizations and the Cold War

will be held at the UNWE, Faculty Hall and online in MS Teams.

The special guest will be Sandrine Kott,

Emeritus Professor of Contemporary European History at the University of Geneva

and Distinguished Professor at New York University.

The seminar will explore the role of the United Nations and its agencies during the Cold War,

with a focus on international cooperation despite ideological divisions,

the significance of internationalism, and efforts to address global inequalities.

The event is organized by the UNWE Political Economy Department and is intended for students, lecturers,

researchers and anyone interested in political economy, international relations and political science.

Summer School on Modeling, AI and Complex Systems 2026

The UNWE, in partnership with St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia and Technical University of Sofia, invite Doctoral and Master's students interested in the methods of modeling complex systems, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence to the Summer School of Modeling, AI and Complex Systems.

The Summer School will be held for the 12^th consecutive year in the period 19-28 June 2026 at Prof. Tsvetan Bonchev Educational and Scientific Basis in Rila Mountains. The official language for written materials is Bulgarian or English, and for classes - Bulgarian. Participants who meet the requirements during the School will receive official certificates.

Main learning objectives:

Creating a lasting attitude to study and apply scientific methods in research.
Upgrading knowledge and skills for research and analytical work.
Intensive training in modeling and cutting-edge methods through lectures, workshops and team assignment work.

There is no participation fee, part of the costs of the stay are covered.

The application deadline is 26 May 2026.

Only some applications will be approved. Those approved will be notified by e-mail on 2 June 2026 and will receive information about inclusion in the training classes.
