Seminar on the International Organizations and the Cold War

On April 29, 2026 /Wednesday/ from 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

a seminar on the International Organizations and the Cold War

will be held at the UNWE, Faculty Hall.

The special guest will be Sandrine Kott,

Emeritus Professor of Contemporary European History at the University of Geneva

and Distinguished Professor at New York University.

The seminar will explore the role of the United Nations and its agencies during the Cold War,

with a focus on international cooperation despite ideological divisions,

the significance of internationalism, and efforts to address global inequalities.

The event is organized by the UNWE Political Economy Department and is intended for students, lecturers,

researchers and anyone interested in political economy, international relations and political science.

Summer School on Modeling, AI and Complex Systems 2026

The UNWE, in partnership with St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia and Technical University of Sofia, invite Doctoral and Master's students interested in the methods of modeling complex systems, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence to the Summer School of Modeling, AI and Complex Systems.

The Summer School will be held for the 12^th consecutive year in the period 19-28 June 2026 at Prof. Tsvetan Bonchev Educational and Scientific Basis in Rila Mountains. The official language for written materials is Bulgarian or English, and for classes - Bulgarian. Participants who meet the requirements during the School will receive official certificates.

Main learning objectives:

Creating a lasting attitude to study and apply scientific methods in research.
Upgrading knowledge and skills for research and analytical work.
Intensive training in modeling and cutting-edge methods through lectures, workshops and team assignment work.

There is no participation fee, part of the costs of the stay are covered.

The application deadline is 26 May 2026.

Only some applications will be approved. Those approved will be notified by e-mail on 2 June 2026 and will receive information about inclusion in the training classes.

The Yearbook of UNWE is a ouble-blind peer-reviewed academic journal published in English. It promotes scholarly exchange in the social sciences and welcomes submissions from researchers worldwide, with emphasis on socio-economic processes in Eastern Europe. We invite theoretical, methodological, and empirical research in the following areas:

Economics and Econometrics
Business, Management, Finance, and Accounting
Public Policy, Governance, and Law
Multidisciplinary topics at the intersection of social sciences, computer science, and digital transformation

The journal is indexed in ERIH+, CrossRef, RePec, CEEOL, ROAD, SIS, Google Scholar, J-Gate, and EconBiz.

Each published article has a DOI® number (https://doi.org/10.37075/YB).

Building an ethical research culture is one of the most effective ways to promote integrity and responsible conduct in academia. This webinar will explore the key challenges in research ethics and provide practical strategies, ideas, and best practices for fostering a strong ethical culture within departments and research teams at universities. Participants will gain actionable insights to support ethical decision-making and enhance the integrity of their research environments.

About the Presenter

Prof. Dr. Nikolay Dentchev is a full professor of social entrepreneurship at the University of National and World Economy (Bulgaria) and a part-time faculty member at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). His research focuses on social entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, ESG and entrepreneurial ecosystems, with over 50 international publications in leading journals including Business & Society, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Cleaner Production. He has also held academic positions at Ghent University and KU Leuven and served as a visiting scholar at institutions across Europe. Prof. Dentchev is passionate about sustainability and entrepreneurship, and he actively explores ways to foster ethical and socially responsible practices in academia and business.
