Students from the UNWE Participated in An International Conference and Summer School in Russia

Students form the UNWE took part in the 6th International Conference and Summer School of the Association of Economic Universities of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region (ASECU Youth). The topic of the Forum was: South and East Europe at the Crossroads of Social and Economic Challenges. It was organized by the Rostov State University of Economics (RSUE) in Ivushka Student Complex at the shore of the Sea of Azov.

In the Conference took part more than 80 students and lecturers from the universities in 7 member-states of the Association: Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, Russia, Romania and Montenegro. The Bulgarian group was represented by three students: Vladimir Atanasov, speciality International Economic Relations, Iva Taneva, specilaity Insurance, Radostina Chausheva, speciality International Economic Relations and the Doctoral student Tatyana Mancheva from the International Relations Department. They delivered scientific reports in the English language on topics related to the effects of Russian embargo over the Bulgarian export, advantages and disadvantages of the flat taxing, issues of the youth unemployment and policies of the countries from the Central and East Europe for fighting with the climate changes. The preliminary selection of reports was made by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paskal Zhelev from the International Economic Relations and Business Department and by Assist. Dr. Dimitar Damyanov from the Economics Department. All reports by the participants from the UNWE obtained high assessment and they would be published in a special collection.  

Head of the Bulgarian group was the Secretary General for International Cooperation of UNWE Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paskal Zhelev. He and Assoc. Prof. Grigoris Zarotiadis from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki managed the work of Conference Section 2 entitled: Social and Economic Challenges in South and East Europe. In the frameworks of Section 2 were delivered reports related to the actual problems of trade and economic relations and foreign economic policies of the countries from the region.

In the programme of the Summer School were included lectures and seminars presented by the Heads of the relevant groups of students.  Assoc. Prof. Zhelev delivered a public lecture on the New Industrial EU Policy – Conclusions about the Countries in Southeastern Europe which provoked a great interest among the students as well as among the lecturers.

Besides the academic part of the event the kind hosts from Rostov were provisioned a number of sports and entertainment lessons, visit of metallurgical enterprise, historical sightseeing in the region, cultural evenings where the participants presented their countries.

The Forum was officially closed in the main building of the Rostov State University of Economics. The Rector Prof. Adam Albekov awarded to the students Certificates of Participation in the International Conference and successful graduation of the Summer School. In the end of the ceremony Prof. Albekov signed an Agreement of Bilateral Academic Partnership between the RSUE and the UNWE and honoured to the Rector of our university Prof. Statty Stattev the Honorary Sign and Certificate of Appreciation. The similar agreement of bilateral cooperation is being prepared for signing between the UNWE and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The Bulgarian delegation was invited to participate also in the next edition of the International Conference and Summer School which would be held in Thessaloniki, Greece.
