Lecturer from the UNWE Participated in The ANEC General Assembly

In Brussels was held the 27th General Assembly of ANEC (European consumer voice in standardisation) – European organization representing the consumer interest in the creation of technical standards.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elka Vasileva from the Economics of Natural Resources Department took part in the work of the General Assembly as an official representative of Bulgaria along with the representatives of the national consumer organizations from 33 ANEC member-states. During the sessions were discussed the major achievements in the activity of the organization over 2015 as well as the perspectives of development. At the meeting was emphasized on the great importance of the Joint Initiative on Standardisation (JIS): responding to a changing European marketplace (DG GROW). The Initiative confirms the usefulness of standardisation and it is based on wider participation of consumers in the standardisation processes.

The organization is represented by nearly 200 experts participating voluntarily in more than 100 technical committees at European standardization bodies CEN, CENELEC and ETSI. During the jubilee celebration entitled 21 Years of ANEC was outlined that since its establishment in 1995 ANEC had achieved success in protecting the consumer interest in several priority fields: children safety; product and services availability; household appliances; information society and sustainable development; services; dangerous chemicals and intelligent measuring appliances.
