EGO POLITICO Student Association organized a public lecture by Angel Dzhambazky, member of the European Parliament which was held in the Ceremonial Hall. The guest-lecturer who is a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group in the European Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Bulgarian National Movement (IMRO – BNM) spoke on the British Requests for Reforms in the EU.

The meeting was opened by Prof. D.Sc.(Hist.) Trendafil Mitev who presented Angel Dzhambazky as a politician from the young generation who always stands up for his position. He reminded that in the current year it had been his second visit at the university - an eloquent evidence of the student interest in his views on the most actual political issues.

In his presentation Dzambazky examined the British requests for reforms in the EU. He pointed out the four key directions: improving the competitiveness of Single Market, aligning the Brussel`s policy towards the countries inside and outside the Euro Area, giving more autonomy to the governments, banning the immigrants from the member-states to receive social benefits and acquisitions in the UK for four years term after their arrival.

The lecturer made conditional prognostications about the outcome of the forthcoming referendum on Britain's membership of the EU which would be held in June. He expressed an assumption that the results of the referendum would be close to a “photo finish”. Dzhambazky also exposed his hypotheses about the changes in the EU if the UK stands or leaves it and the responds of the countries from the Visegrad Group (Visegrad Four or V4) as well as the behavior of Scotland after the decision. He assessed the process of negotiations between the UK and the EU as unsuccessful.
