5th International Conference on The Application of Information and Communication Technology and Statistics in Economy and Education
5th International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technology and Statistics in Economy and Education (ICAICTSEE-2015) was held at the university. During the opening of the two-days Forum attended Prof. Dr. Veselka Pavlova, Vice-Rector of UNWE and Head of the Statistics and Econometrics Department, Prof. Dr. Kamelia Stefanova, Dean of the Applied Informatics and Statistics Faculty and Head of the Information Technologies and Communications Department, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Velev from the Information Technologies and Communications Department, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, Prof. D.Sc. (Maths) Nikolay Bozhinov, Head of the Mathematics Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosen Kirilov, Deputy Director and Head of Specialized Unit for Practical Education.

Prof. Dr. Veselka Pavlova greeted the participants in the Conference on behalf of the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev. She emphasized on the wide international range of the Forum – a guarantee for important research achievements and creation of serious and competent scientific community. Prof. Pavlova outlined also the results of the two Conferences annually held by the Faculty in the dynamic fields of applied informatics and statistics and wished the participant to have successful discussions, new ideas and perspective elaborations during the Forum.

The more available are the methods of a cause the wider application it has, cited the Einstein`s thought Prof. Kamelia Stefanova. She specified the Conference objectives for achieving significant research results, creative ideas, useful suggestions and effective partnership. We face a great challenge – to impose Bulgaria among the most successful countries having strong application activity, pointed out Prof. Stefanova.

In his presentation Prof. Dimitar Velev outlined the objectives of the Conference organized under the auspices of the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP). The Chairman of the Conference pointed out that the Forum had been organized by the support of several leading IT companies - Мicrosoft, Scalefocus, MusalaSoft and Kabinata. He announced the number of submitted papers – 110 of which 51 by foreign participants from 14 countries – Albania, Moldova, Belarus, Mexico, Norway, etc.

A key speech was delivered by Krum Daskalov, Director of Analytic Department at the Scalefocus company who examined the modern data analyzing systems, their advantages and disadvantages.

During the two-days Conference were analyzed the issues and were presented the results of ICT application in the various spheres of economy and education as well as the opportunities for application of modern IT instruments and the research tendencies of long-term importance. ICAICTSEE-2015 provides an open Forum for the dissemination of researches, innovative approaches and original results in all aspects of the ICT application in the economy and education.
