UNWE Became The Founder of The First Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria

The UNWE became a founder of the first of its kind Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria. The organization was established during the National Session of Directors of economic high schools in the country and representatives of the Rectors Managing Body of the university which was held at the Educational and Rehabilitation Facility of UNWE in Ravda. The Forum was led by Prof. Dr. Ognyan Simeonov, First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Education in the EQD of Bachelor. He was the initiator for the Rectors Council decision of institutionalizing the relations with the high economic schools in the country as well as with other similar schools where economic disciplines are studied.

During the National Session

Vanya Kastreva, Deputy Minister of Education and Science defined the meeting as actual and very important for the secondary professional education. It is delightful that the UNWE supports the modernizing and optimizing of education in economic disciplines at the high schools for being assisted the improvement of academic programmes, exchange of ideas and experience in common issues, achievements and perspectives in the field of professional education, outlined the Minister. Vanya Kastreva also pointed out that the challenges to Bulgarian education had become larger in comparison with the previous years and so the newly established Association would help for their resolution in due time.

Emilia Ivanova, Director of the National Trade and Banking High School in Sofia presented to participants in the National Session the conditions and tendencies of secondary professional education in the field of Economics. Her colleagues upheld the idea for the Association and defined it as a timely step for the relation between the secondary and higher education which would help the young people to make an informed choice of their future profession.

The newly established Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria has the objective to enhance the quality of education at the high schools in the country, providing a flat transition to the higher economic education and search of additional opportunities of vertical integration between the high schools in the country and the UNWE. The tasks of Association are related to the achievement of widely ranged and well-coordinated joint activity between the university and high economic schools in the country, improvement of academic programmes and elaboration of innovative educational and methodical instruments, enhancement of qualification of teachers in economic disciplines, exchange of experience between the Association members through working seminars, round-table conferences, etc.

As Chairman of the Association Coordinating Council was elected Prof. Dr. Ognayan Simeonov, First Vice-Rector of UNWE and Vice-Rector for Education in the EQD of Bachelor. Deputy Chairwoman became Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschiyan, Scientific Secretary of the Accountancy and Analysis Department and as members were appointed Emilia Ivanova, Director of the National Trade and Banking High School in Sofia, Slaveyka Ivanova, Director of the National Trade High School in Plovdiv and Tanya Blagoeva, Director of the Professional High School of Economics and Management in Pazarfdzhik.  

The Association plan for the academic year 2015/2016 was also adopted. In it are included national competitions in Economics, Finance and Accountancy, Informatics and Statistics as well as national contests in Accountancy and competitions for an essay in foreign language on actual political topics. It is also provisioned the implementation of seminars for improvement of academic programmes and preparation of educational materials, lectures of university professors at the schools, joint participation in international and national projects for enhancing the quality of economic education and making popular the opportunities for education at the UNWE, etc.  

At the National Session attended also Nikolay Bakardzhiev, Vice-Rector of UNWE, Chief Assist. Nikolay Vankov, Secretary of the University Center for Marketing, Lidia Velcheva, Director of the Rectors Office of UNWE, Violet Marinova, Head of the Prospective Students Division, Directors and Deputy Directors of economic schools in Bulgaria.
