Closing Conference on the Project BG051PO001–3.1.08-0031 – Elaboration and Implementation of System of Key Indicators and Process-Based Management of UNWE was held at the university. The project was implemented by the financial support of Operational Programme Human Resources Development 2007-2013 and co-financed by the European Social Fund. At the opening of the Forum attended Prof. Dr. Valentin Goev, Vice Rector on Scientific Research Activity, Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Valentin Kisimov, Vice Rector on Electronic Organization and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Venelin Boshnakov, Head of the project.

A serious elaboration characterized as an unusual scientific project with high scientific results, defined the project Prof. Valentin Kisimov. He greeted the participants in the project on behalf of the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev and expressed his contentment with the exclusive results that had been achieved. Prof. Kisimov outlined the importance of the elaboration, the new forms of scientific research activity and the ambition to be implemented the further development of the university and rise of its reputation.

In the Conference programme was included a presentation of the major project results achieved in the five separate activities. As an exclusively important activity was outlined the elaboration of university system of key indicators built up on the model of balanced card for assessment (Ваlanced Corecard). It was emphasized also on the working processes modeling at the UNWE implemented on the base of their detailed description and presentation by the specialized software for business processes modeling - IBM USINESS PROCESSES MODELER. There were also presented the activities on updating the system for quality management at the university in compliance with the international standard ISO 9001:2008.

The presentation of the project and in particular the first project activity entitled Analysis of Adequacy of the Management Processes at the UNWE was made by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Venelin Boshnakov, Head of the project. He outlined the common and specific objectives of the elaboration for improvement of the university management system, enhancement of thrift, efficiency and effectiveness of working processes and activities, reaching higher compliance with the requirements of the National Agency on Assessment and Accreditation, improvement of the university positions in the Bulgarian higher schools rating system, etc. The project is implemented for 22 months. Assoc. Prof. Boshnakov examined the range of the first activity and its main zones – academic activity, normative regulation, participation of the academic staff and students in the Scientific Research Activity of UNWE, etc. In the project has taken part 3 key experts and 21 functioning experts and in the surveys were involved more than 2 200 students, 430 lecturers, 380 officials, former students from the university and employers of graduates from the UNWE.

The second activity on the project was presented by Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kuzmova. In her presentation Assoc. Prof. Vania Lazarova examined the third project activity entitled Modeling and Improvement of the Management Processes at the UNWE. The next two project activities: Integration of Information System of the UNWE Management and Implementation of Changes in the UNWE Management System were also presented.

The project objective is the enhancement of educational quality at the university analyzing the challenges, elaborating and implementing an innovative system of instruments for management in reporting the modern labour market demands for building up the knowledge based economy.
