Training for Work with The Emerald Publishing House Databases

In the University Library Reading Room 1 was held training for work with databases of Emerald E-Books Collection BME – e-books in the field of economics and business and Emerald E-Books Collection SS – e-books in the field of social sciences. The training course was carried out by Tsvetelina Dimitrova, representative of the Emerald Publishing House for Bulgaria. Stanka Tsenova, Director of the University Library and Central Archive Directorate opened the Seminar and presented the lecturer and the publisher.

During the training

Emerald Publishing House is leading, independent publisher having impact on the scientific researches in the field of education, business, management, engineering, social and political sciences. The university lecturers Prof. Ivan Dushanov and Prof. Silvia Trifonova are members of the editorial staffs of some Emerald journals, pointed out Tsvetelina Dimitrova. She examined the book series, scientific researches, e-collection of books, the scientific editions subject to an assessment and lots of them with an impact factor. Dimitrova specified also the subject fields: marketing, informative management, accountancy, finance and economics, business management and strategies and others which “cover” the profile of educational and scientific activity at the UNWE.

The representative of the Emerald publisher for Bulgaria pointed out also that 89 of the business schools ranked by the Financial Times in the World Top 100 had bought the Emerald collection and in 2011 they had downloaded specialized articles 1,2 million times. Tsvetelina Dimitrova examined also the process of publishing and searching in the Emerald databases, the access to the specialized resources for librarians, authors, researchers, lecturers and students. The purpose of such meetings and trainings is to integrate the Emerald collections with the work of UNWE, pointed out Tsvetelina Dimitrova.
