4th International Conference ICAICTSEE - 2014

4th International Conference on the Application of Information and Communication Technology and Statistics in the Economy and Education (ICAICTSEE – 2014) was held at the university. The two-day Forum was organized by the Applied Informatics and Statistics Faculty and in it took part scientists from the UNWE, St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia, Bulgarian Academy of Science, D.A.Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov, Economic University -  Varna, New Bulgarian University, Todor Kableshkov University of Transport, Konstantin Preslavky University of Shumen, Management, Trade and Marketing College as well as representatives from universities in Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, France, Macedonia, etc.

ICAICTSEE-2014 is an open Forum for dissemination of the scientific progress, innovative approaches and original research results in the application of information and communication technology in the economy and education, pointed out Prof. Dimitar Velev from the Information Technologies and Communications Department, Chairman of the Conference Programme and Organizing Committee. He presented the sponsors and partners of the Forum: SAP Labs Bulgaria, Musala Soft, Kabinata, IDNC, dWare, etc. The Conference is held under the auspices of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) – the eldest and the most authoritative organization in the field of information and communication technologies in the world. The Conference Programme Committee consists of 62 members from 31 countries of the fifth continents, specified Prof. Velev.

Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Sergey Ohrimenco from the Academy of Economic Studies in Chisinau, Moldova expressed his thankfulness to the organizers of the Conference. He emphasized that the participation of Moldavian scientists from the Academy had been traditional and useful. Prof. Ohrimenco gifted to Prof. Velev a special souvenir as a sigh of successful cooperation.

A greeting address on behalf of the Business Informatics Department of D.A.Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov was awarded to the organizers by the Head of the Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veselin Popov. He outlined the large scale format of the Conference, the actual thematic fields and the participation of wide circle of scientists from Bulgaria and abroad.

At the opening of the Conference were delivered three plenary reports. Dr. Litien Chen, Director of the Taiwan Trade Center in Sofia read a report on the Taiwan Hi-Tech Alliance Linking You to a World of Profits and explained in details the opportunities available in Taiwan for professionals in the field of information and communication technology from all over the world, including also the Bulgarian professionals. Dimitar Tsvetkov, Consultant at the SAP Bulgaria presented the second plenary report entitled Simplify Everything, Do Anything and revealed the opportunities offered by the software giant to the  business. The third plenary report on the ARDC Methodologies for Knowledge Accumulation was presented by Vassil Angelov and Nickolay Todorovsky from the Musala Soft. They informed the audience about the newest software achievements of the company. The three plenary reports were heard with profound interest by the participants in the Conference.

The two-day Forum focused its work on the following fields: Business Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Business Statistics, Digital Libraries, E-Commerce and E-Business, E-Health Technologies, Economic and Financial Information Systems, Finance and Banking Information Systems, Future of Internet, Geographic Information Systems, Green Technologies, Human Computer Interaction, Information Management Systems,  Information Security, Economic and Demographic Statistics, etc.

94 reports by representatives of 15 countries including China, Taiwan, Malaysia, France and many others were submitted for participation in the Conference. The Bulgarian reports were 56 and the ones from abroad were 38. The reports from the International Conference will be issued in a special collection and the best of them will be offered for publishing in an international scientific magazine. The collection of reports will be indexed by EBSCO and ProQuest.
