International Scientific Conference on The Membership of Bulgaria in The European Union – Seven Years Later
In the Large Conference Hall was opened the 11th International Scientific Conference on the Membership of Bulgaria in The European Union – Seven Years Later. In the work of the Forum participated some leading scientists from the UNWE, St. Climent Ohridsky University of Sofia, Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov University of Bourgas, Angel Kanchev University of Rouse as well as representatives of the Skopje University-Macedonia, Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University-Ukraine, etc. The Conference was organized by the International Economics and Politics Faculty and the International Economic Relations and Business Department at UNWE.

Prof. Dr. Valentin Goev, Vice Rector in Scientific Research Activity greeted the participants in the Conference on behalf of the Rector Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev. He emphasized on the importance of the topic, the wide academic presence at the Forum and the participation of Doctoral students and undergraduates. Prof. Goev announced also a decision of the Rectors Managing Body for stimulation of students – active participants in the university scientific research activity.

The Scientific Conference requires from us to make efforts for rationalizing the seven years period of membership of our country in the European Union, outlined Assoc. Prof. Dr. Blaga Blagoeva, Vice Dean in Academic Affairs of the International Economics and Politics Faculty. He wished the participants from the universities a fruitful work in the country and abroad.

The scientific reports in the Conference were more than 40 and more of them were worked out by lecturers, assistants and Doctoral students from the following Departments of UNWE: International Economic Relations and Business, Finance, Industrial Business, Entrepreneurship, Public Legal Studies.
In her report on the Membership of Bulgaria in The European Union – Seven Years Later, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Svetlana Alexandrova from the International Economics and Business Department, Director of the Rural Regions Development Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food stroke a balance of the operative programmes application during the period, the small and medium business financing, the gaps in the management and control, etc.

The report by Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Dimitar Hadjinikolov from the International Economic Relations and Business Department was focused on the achievements and problems of the regional aspect of the EU cohesion policy in Bulgaria. Prof. Dr. Nadejda Nikolova and Chief Assistant Valya Vasileva both from the Finance Department examined the trends in the corporate lending in Bulgaria.
The International Conference was held in the Large and Small Conference Hall and was closed by a concluding discussion.
