Helping Megy - Charity Sports Tournament

The Students Councli of UNWE and the Physical Education and Sport Department organized a Charity Tournament at the Bonsist Hall. It was part of the initiative Helping Megy – a charity campaign in support of Madlen Stoilova, student girl at the UNWE. At the event attended also lecturers from the university.  

In the Tournament took part also students from the Technical University, University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, New Bulgarian University, St. Climent Ohridski University of Sofia, National Academy of Music as well as from the University of Food Technologies, Agricultural University and Medical University of Plovdiv. In the beginning it was held a demonstrative football match between the organizers, the Chairmen of the universities Students Councils and Megy`s friends - initiators of the campaign.

During the Tournament

In the football matches took part 18 teams, in the volleyball ones -12 teams and in the basketball -9 ones and the number of the individual participants in the tennis-table competitions was 20.

Such a Charity Tournament is organized for a second time and the good news is that the participants are twice more than the last year, said the Chairman of the Students Council Antoan Shortarov. The participation fee was 10 BGN and the sum collected in the end of the event was over 3000 BGN. In the charity competitions were involved more than 200 people.

Help for Megy

In the campaign participated also Assoc. Prof. Emilia Georgieva, Deputy Head of the Economics Department who announced the donation of her students. The sum was paid into the treasury of the campaign Helping Megy.
