His Excellency Makhenkesi Stofile Read A Public Lecture about Nelson Mandela

His Excellency Makhenkesi Arnold Stofile,  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa in the Federal Republic of Germany read a public lecture on Nelson Mandela: A Revolutionary and Leader – Son of His Time. At the Ceremonial Hall attended also Boiki Motloung, Charge`d Affaires the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in our country.

Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Valentin Kisimov, Vice Rector of the university greeted the high-standing persons and highlighted the contribution of Nelson Mandela to the current democratic outlook of South Africa.

 “On behalf of South Africa and the African National Congress I would like to thank you for your solidarity”, said His Excellency Makhenkesi Stofile in the beginning of his statement. In his lecture he emphasized on the fight for democracy and freedom of Nelson Mandela - the first black President of the South African Republic (since 1994 to 1999). In 1962 Mandela was sentenced to life imprisonment and he served 27 years. When he went out from the prison Bulgaria was one of the few countries in the world which appreciated his wisdom and ideas, outlined the Ambassador Stofile.

“Every age brings into the world its leaders. Our generation created persons who helped us defeating the Apartheid. Our children have to go forward with the leader who will make their dreams come true”, pointed out His Excellency Makhenkesi Stofile. Mandela implemented the boldest desires of black people in Africa in the fight for dignity and equality. The great leaders are weak if they can`t inspire other people, outlined the Ambassador.

The Charge`d Affaires the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in our country Boiki Motloung expressed his thankfulness to the Bulgarian government and our university for the cooperation with his country. He pointed out that the meetings and lectures strengthen the relations between both countries.

On behalf of Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of UNWE, Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Valentin Kisimov bestowed a Certificate on His Excellency Makhenkesi Stofile as a sign of thankfulness for his lecture.

Before the lecture the Rector Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev met and talked with His Excellency Makhenkesi Stofile and Charge`d Affaires the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in our country Boiki Motloung.

 Ambassador Stofile is a Doctor of Theology of the University of Fort Hare (RSA), Master of Arts of the University of Princeton (USA), Doctor of Philosophy of the Nelson Mandela University. He has been a university lecturer and Director of University Development at the University of Fort Hare (RSA), deputy in the first democratic South African Parliament, Prime Minister of the Province of East Cape, Minister of Sports and Recovery, etc. He has also been a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (since 2004 to 2010) and occupied leader positions in the field of sports at regional, national and international level. He has worked in the structures of the African National Congress and its military wing, in its National Executive Committee (since 1991 to 2012) and has been a Treasurer General of the African National Congress under President Mandela.
