Three days the Bonsist Sports Complex was an arena of challenging competitions for medals in the State Students Championship on Basketball 3x3. The Championship was opened by the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev. “It`s an honour and pleasure for me to open for a second time the Second State Sports Championship on Basketball 3x3 – a splendid initiative which started last year but it has already approved as an authoritative sports event”, pointed out the Rector. ”And it`s not an accident. The UNWE has glorious sports traditions and their beginning has been set in 1923 when was established the first Students Sports Club in Bulgaria. Worthy followers of the then students at our predecessor – the Free University of Political and Economic Sciences – are the current ones who are excellent students not only in their study but also in sports. Under the guidance of their lecturers and coaches they delight us with their achievements in national and international competitions”.

Prof. Stattev also outlined that the Academic Management of UNWE had always supported and would continue assisting the university sports and the event was only one proof of that. “The Sports Complex Bonsist provides excellent conditions to be held today's major sporting event. I heartily wish all the participants success in the noble race”, said the Rector. At the opening of the Students Championship attended also the Deputy Minister of Sports Ivan Tsenov, the President of the Bulgarian Basketball Federation Georgi Glushkov, Prof. Ivan Poligorov from the University of Forestry and Assoc.
