“The academic management body supports the professional field of Sociology, Anthropology and Sciences for Culture along with the other professional fields because our strategy is the public to perceive UNWE namely as a university which covers the entire field of public sciences, of course concentrated in the economy. What`s more, our purpose and ambition is UNWE to be recognized as a leader also in the Bulgarian sociological science”, pointed out the Rector of the university Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev at the opening of the Scientific Conference on the Public Transformations in Bulgaria, Europe and in the World. The two days Forum was devoted to the Anniversary of education in the discipline Sociology and the establishment of the speciality and Department of Economic Sociology at the university. The Economic Sociology Department Forums were determined by the Rector as “areas of profound discussions and exchange of ideas revealing new trajectories for inter-disciplinary research and solutions to complicated issues of the modern dynamic society and economic development”. Prof. Stattev pointed out that the Conference was a good example for continuation of the tradition and a guarantee for its success was its thematic framework. “Obviously it`s about the efforts to be analyzed as sociological and economic as also political, social and psychological, cultural and historic aspects of the public transformations concerning the opportunities for higher quality of life, for economic modernization and effectiveness, for sustainable public development”, outlined the Rector. He pointed out that transformations in the modern society had very profound and systematical features and the reasons of that could be found not only on the financial crisis over the last years but also on the exhaustion of natural resources, the disturbed ecological balance, the climate change and more frequent natural cataclysms. “The reason is in the philosophy and values of the modern society”, summarized Prof. Stattev and specified that the world was looking for new forms of public arrangement. The Rector emphasized on the high responsibility of the Economic Sociology Department in the preparation of students and its aspiration to profound their knowledge about the running dynamic processes, the mutual commitment between authorities and values, power and politics, state and citizenship, economy and spiritual field. Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev congratulated Prof. D.Sc. (Soc.) Mihail Mirchev on his election as a Chairman of the Bulgarian Sociological Association at its XIII Congress.

The three dates related to the study of Sociology at the UNWE he “collected” as about 40 years biography of the speciality and Department. “We all live in exclusively dynamic times. Transformations are all that grounds all the issues and all the questions which become more and more profound, related to the economy but passing also through the politics  to reach to the daily round and people`s life, to their cultural orientations, values, identity, etc., resumed Prof. Mirchev. He grounded the geographic “area” of the theme: “not only in Bulgaria but also in Europe and in the world because all happens in one integrated space”. “We are interested most of all from Bulgarian issues but the world and European reality concern us and so that trinity is compulsory, pointed out the Professor.
