The Specialized Criminal Court Was Presented to Students by Its Chairman Georgy Ushev

Future jurists from the university had a chance to listen to the lecture of Georgy Ushev, Chairman of the Specialized Criminal Court in Bulgaria. The meeting-discussion was on the Specialized Criminal Court and The Specific in His Activity was organized by the Students Council. 

Geirgy Ushev outlined to his young colleagues the new two-tier system including a first instance court, which deals with the cases and the second instance court which deals with the appeals against a sentence as he pointed out that the last word in trials is to the Supreme Court of Cassation. The lecture differentiated the specificity of structure, the competence and jurisdictional activity of the specialized court. He emphasized to the guarantees for conformity of the trial with the law as he pointed out that the specialized courts in the country in order of the entities of the offenses are the military courts and in order of their activity subject – the Administrative Courts and the Specialized Criminal Court which is the only one in Bulgaria. Ushev defined that the cases for crimes justiciable of the Specialized Criminal Court are basically committed or ordered by criminal groups. That`s why the special magistrates have the task to manage with the fight against the organized criminality and the Specialized Criminal Court must answer the requirements of society for competent, fair and principle court trial.
