The Competition provides two types of support:

  2. University grants for participation in an international scientific conference with indexing of the collection in Web of Science and / or Scopus with a maximum amount of support up to € 600, which can be used for participation fees in international scientific conferences with indexing of collections in Web of Science and / or Scopus, as well as for translation or editorial services.

The evaluation and ranking of the proposals is carried out by the Programme Council for R&D of UNWE within regular sessions in the order of receipt of proposals. Applications are submitted in the R&D sector to the UNWE Science Directorate.

"The grant scheme is a specially created and completely new mechanism for targeted promotion of the publishing activity of the UNWE academic staff in publications indexed in the global databases Web of Science or Scopus. According to a decision of the Programme Council on R&D the total amount of support for 2022 is BGN 120,000, which is intended to cover the costs of colleagues implemented in relation to the publication of their scientific results in editions indexed in one of the two databases. The administrative burden for the candidates is minimal”, explains Assoc. Prof. Mihail Musov, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs, Chairman of the Programme Council on R&D.

"Some University Departments have already reoriented their publishing activity to editions indexed in the two world databases. These efforts of our colleagues are worthy of respect and deserve to be encouraged", shares Assoc. Prof. Musov. “That`s why we are currently in the process of developing a new mechanism to stimulate publications in Web of Science and Scopus. It will be an additional remuneration /or other financial incentives/ for members of our academic staff for authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications in editions indexed in global databases. By decision of the Rectors Council, the amount for material stimulation of the publishing activity for this year is 20 times higher than the amount for material stimulation in the last five consecutive years. We have also increased the funds for business trips in the country and abroad. Additional funds are also expected under the National Program "Stimulation of Publishing Activity in Authoritative International Journals and Open Access to Scientific Information".
