National Competition in Applied informatics for High School Students

The National Competition in Applied Informatics was held at the UNWE. The Test Center of the University gathered together high school students from all over the country ready to demonstrate their knowledge in the field of applied informatics. Prof. Dr. Kamelia Stefanova, Head of the Department of Information Technology and Communications, opened the Competition and introduced the guests at the event.

"Dear high school students, welcome to the UNWE! You have studied, prepared and come here to show how much you have learnt and we have organized this event with great responsibility to provide for you the opportunity to express your knowledge", greeted the participants in the Competition Prof. Dr. Kamelia Stefanova.

The Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Prof. Dr. Miroslava Rakovska greetted the pupils on behalf of the Rector of the UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov: "We are extremely grateful and congratulate you for the courage to come to the university as well as to prepare for this competition. The best of you will be given the opportunity to be part of the speciality Business Informatics and Communications”, said Prof. Rakovska and outlined: "this specialty is extremely important and I think it is the only one in the country. At our university you have the chance to touch not only to information and communication technologies but also to make the connection with the business and all the for-profit and not-for-profit organizations that use information systems and technologies. I think we are the only university in the country that provides that opportunity. We as a university have prepared professionals who work in all areas of socio-economic life, including the IT sector. I wish all of you success and I hope to see you all at the opening of the academic year in the autumn".

"I wish all of you goodluck and I am sure you will get very high grades because I am sure you have prepared well before coming to our university. We are looking forward to seeing you all as students and I believe that the future ahead is only positive and good and it is in your hands", greeted the pupils Assoc. Rosen Kirilov.

"I could certainly say that the topics of IT sphere that we teach with Prof. Stefanova, Assoc. Prof. Kirillov and lecturers from the Department are the cutting edge of technology at the moment", noted Assoc. Prof.  Lyuben Boyanov and added: "we teach the most modern things related to the Internet of objects, big data and cyber security.

The competition was held as an electronic examination. Participants solved a test including 30 questions. During the exam all anti-epidemic measures, observance of the required distance and strict control of wearing masks were observed.
