6 million BGN is the budget for the new Scientific Programme on Security and Defence of the Ministry of Education and Science /MES/. The Programme was developed due to the 3-year efforts by the UNWE National and Regional Security Department. In addition, a team from the Department will lead two of the working packages and will participate in two other ones.

"It is of great importance not only for the Department but also for the UNWE as a whole", commented Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Head of Department and Rector of UNWE. According to him in the conditions of rapidly developing and dynamic change in the security and defense sector the cooperation and the joint actions between the scientific organizations and the business are obligatory.

The Programme is part of the implementation of the National Strategy for Development of Research 2017-2030 aiming to increase the national scientific capacity in the field of security and defense. It is supported by the Ministry of Defense as well as by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its activities are expected to start in 2022 and be implemented by 2025.

The results of all fundamental scientific studies will be available in publicity and can be used by scientists, Ph.D. students, undergraduates and other society groups for development and enrichment of the scientific achievements for the benefit of society.

The implementation of the Programme will lead to increased publishing activity, creation of modern models for management and functioning, development of active relations between the scientific organizations and state universities in the country, inclusion in international partner scientific networks, creation of prototypes of tools and environment for more secure virtual communication as well as improving the interaction between the R&D units and the business.
