60 Years of Academic Perfection Celebrates The International Economic Relations Speciality

By an official assembly was celebrated the 60th Anniversary from foundation of the speciality International Economic Relations. At the Maxima Aula attended the Rector of UNWE, some Vice-Rectors, Deans, lecturers, Professors from allied Departments of other universities, students.

It`s not just a formal act but a special pleasure to me to greet the Department for its jubilee, pointed out Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of UNWE who emphasized his long-lasting creative collaboration with the International Economic Relations and Business Department as a lecturer. In his greeting speech Prof. Stattev defined the 60th Anniversary of the speciality as a “wise, stately and respective academic age and a nice occasion to remember with a great respect and give a gratitude to the first founders and their followers, to all the people who have been giving their contribution by erudition, intellect and ambition for the prestige of the speciality which is a proud for UNWE.”

“Due to your efforts and your boundless dedication the speciality International Economic Relations is “a trade mark” synonymous with an excellent preparation, authoritative lecturers, brilliant realization of its alumni who occupy high positions in the government and business, authoritative professionals of national and international importance. Your speciality not only educates but it creates standards in the educational and scientific research activity that are highly assessed and followed in the whole country”, emphasized the Rector.

“These are 60 years of academic perfection. We are proud that during all these decades the speciality International Economic Relations has attracted a lot of perspective students and some of the most eminent professionals in the economic field, especially in all the aspects of international business have educated in the speciality”, pointed out in his report Assoc. Prof.Dr. Ivan Stoytchev, Head of The International Economic Relations and Business Department. The prestigious speciality is graduated by a lot of successful and influential entrepreneurs, managers and politicians realized themselves as well as in the country as also abroad. Its alumni are also both Rectors of the university – Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Michail Savov and Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Danail Danailov as well as a lot of eminent politicians, ministers, managers of state agencies and administrations, well-known specialists in our country and abroad, reminded Assoc. Prof. Stoytchev. Over the last 35 years the number of the speciality alumni is 9 000 – well known and respected economists. “Let`s courageously accept the challenges of the new century”, completed his speech the Head of the Department.

As a respected and prestigious university recognized in Europe and the world scientific circles, was defined UNWE in the greeting address of the FON University of Skopje and its Rector Prof. Dr. Alexander Nikopolsky. The Macedonian Professor bestowed a plaque to Prof. Statty Stattev for his merits and as a sign of gratitude for collaboration as well as a picture of the International Economics and Politics Faculty represented by its Dean Prof. Dr. Antoaneta Vasileva. It was read a greeting to the Department for its jubilee on the behalf of Dr. Liliana Pavlova, Minister of The Regional Development and Public Works who has also graduated the speciality International Economic Relations at the UNWE. Wishes of new and greater success were addressed to the International Economic Relations and Business Department from the Institute for Economic Research to the Bulgarian Academy of Science, from the Economic Faculty of the South-West University in Blagoevgrad, from the Law Faculty of UNWE, the Department of International Relations, the Department of Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistcs of the university, from the College on Management, Trade and Marketing, from the Alumni Association of the speciality International Economic Relations, from the Students Council and many others.

Honorary Certificates were bestowed to the deserving Professors and Assoc. Professors for their work and contribution in the country and abroad for the growth of the Department. The students distinguished in the casus competition were also awarded as at the first place were ranked the third year undergraduates of the speciality International Economic Relations Elitza Mitreva and Yordan Mitchev.

The official assembly at the Maxima Aula was preceded by a Jubilee Scientific Conference on The Global Perspectives 2020 and Bulgaria. Authoritative representatives of the academic circles and business discussed the actual problems of the international collaboration and European integration in two main directions: The Bulgarian Business – International Dimensions and Good Practices / Bulgaria and The European Priorities. At the opening of the Conference were also addressed greetings to the Department celebrating its 60th Anniversary.
